I decided to do the little city tour in Puerto Iguazu and was brought to Guira Oga. I only had a slight idea of what this place actually was until I stepped foot inside. I had the greatest tour guide for the experience (If only I could remember his name) he knew everything and answered every single question and also he was extremeley interactive and insisted on the participation of the guests! The tour itself included the transportation to the trail where you hop off and take a little walking path through the refuge. The guide explained about the different situations and circumstances that the animals would enter this refuge. I definitely learned quite a bit about some native as well as non native animals in this area (including information on some creepy crawlies too!) I defintely recommend this place!
Just completed the 1.5 hour guided tour in English. Our guide, Carmen, was fantastic in the way she explained in-depth why each animal or bird was there. Some had been confiscated from illegal hunters, some had been brought up as domesticated pets and could not survive in the wild and some had been injured by humans or vehicles. We saw species that we had not seen ever. It was worth the 85 ARS entry fee and I would highly recommend a visit.
这里提供每天四次英文导览,对于不熟悉西文的旅客而言是非常好的认识在地特色动物的机会。动物们从不同环境被救援至此,慢慢恢复健康,甚至能重返大自然,是很有意义的观赏体验。
We have visited other places like this but the other was better. Here the animals have little space, someone repeats the same motion and path obsessively. The ticket is not so cheap and our kid 11 years old payd the some price of an adult.
Very interesting. Unfortunately they did not have an English speaking tour guide the time that we were there so we missed alot of what the guide was describing, but it was still wonderful to see all the animals in their almost "natural" surroundings.
The place is a kind of sanctuary where all sorts of animals are treated for all sorts of problems. It is cheap and you will see more animals than on the safari that costs 4 times as much for less time. The animals are in cages, however, to protect them but the aim is to put them back in their natural habitat. The girl who showed us around was very helpful for foreigners to help them understanding and was so enthusiastic everyone was thrilled. Thank you for helping the animals in need and thank you for showing us the animals
The tour here is totally superficial and extremely rushed. Don't expect to have more than a glimpse of the birds. plus most of the animals live here forever so they are making money instead of really understanding nature. They explained hurted animals would be prey out there, which is true but natural. They are supposed to get caught and die to serve as food. But no. Poor birds. Plus it it's very crowded, go to the park on the Brazilian side. Perhaps it is better
This is not a zoo, it's a rescue mission. That is clearly stated on the sign at the entrance. Nice people, well informed, tours in Spanish and English. You are paying to support the rescue center. All animals were former pets or injured in the wild and brought in. The only problem we had was the 3 legged Coati that was insane....pacing it's cage without stopping for hours. Sometimes you need to let nature take its course.....you can't save everything or every one. Overall, we gave this a good rating because they are trying......
It was my first visit to Iguazu so I was excited to see local wild life. It is a rescue centre so do not expect zoo like experience. It was organized well with choice of tours in English and Spanish. The park is not big but tour takes around 1,5 hrs as the guides explains a lot about the wild life and environment of Amazon. Interesting but nothing special. If you want to see lots of animals and birds head to brazilian site to Parque Das Aves.Nevertheless worth visiting to support good cause.
