and one of the most crowded. Clear waters, nice sand and lots of bars to eat or sip a beer. Visiting at the end of the afternoon is better as it is significantly less crowded.
Although we went in late March, Curral Beach seemed a bit overcrowded. Maybe because there are bars, and water activities going on (i.e. banana boat, and all that stuff). If you want peace, follow to the next beach, Veloso
Curral is the most fashionable beach in Ilhabela. Surrounded by tall mountains covered in lush rainforest and with a great view, Curral can get very crowded during summer holidays. Most of the year, though it is fairly quiet. A number of restaurants available including the wonderful upscale Troy, from the DPNY hotel.
Ilhabela is a GREAT cruise ship stop. When getting off of the cruise ship, there is a tourist information booth and other vendors at booths selling tours. I grouped together with other cruise passengers and hired a van to take us to Curral Beach. The cost was $30R each. The ride was about 45 minutes with no traffic at a speed of about 30 MPH (not fast). It was a nice, pleasant ride through town and scenic as the road is next to the water. Curral Beach is packed with restaurants that will let you use their chairs, loungers, tables and umbrellas if you consume food or drink. We had some nice local beer and a pleasant visit. (See photo)You will read that this stop has biting flies. In December 2012, we did not experience that but we did apply bug spray. I also noticed the locals applying bug spray. The town near the tender dock is a nice size for walking around and shopping for tourist items.I hope you find this helpful!
Excellent infrastructure for tourists. Its waters are usually calm and transparent, soft sand, pleasant breeze. All the restaurants offer chairs, beach umbrella and some of them deck chairs. There are food options for all prices. There are all kind of restaurants in there, since simple portions until sofisticated lunchs. The price of the food and drinks use to be a little more expensive than in the other restaurants far from the beaches.
We went as a ship excursion. My advice would be skip the boring city tour and go only to the beach, that is why people go to Ilhabella. I really loved the place nice calm water and very warm. Loungers on the beach and cafes all on the beach make it a really worthwhile trip.
la comida , la playa el lugar es excelente, pedir el camaron, en papagayo. eso si llevar repelente despues de las 5 pm los mosquitos se alborotan
I love the beach south side.Visit Canoa de Voga restaurantRent a sup on Mirandinha. Visit the stones at beach end
it is wonderful to swim - feels like a natural swimming pool. Coconut water, comfortable tables and chairs under trees… who could ask for anything more?
