Decided to combine this hike with the Grand Wash trail, so glad we did. We hiked the Grand Wash trail beginning at the trailhead off Hwy 24 (this is a beautiful hike). Once we made it to the other end of the Grand Wash trail we simply backtracked to the trailhead for Cassidy Arch. This is a more challenging hike, coupled with the elevation and terrain changes. We truly enjoyed every minute of this hike. One beautiful view after another on this hike, not to mention the surprise of seeing Cassidy Arch in the distance after rounding a corner during the hike. You should be prepared to follow the rock cairns once you reach the slick rock section of the trail. It is fairly easy to navigate if you take your time and pay attention. The views upon reaching Cassidy Arch were amazing, we took the opportunity to have our lunch while at the arch. Be sure to make this hike part of your visit to Capital Reef National Park!
This one is always a fun one, we hike it often. Its pretty neat to be hiking along wonder where the arch is, and next thing you know you are on top of it. Great view!
This was a fun hike with some interesting views. The arch was an arch but we were a bit spoiled by Arches and Canyonlands. The hike is moderate, with a lot of hiking up through switchbacks.
The hard parts are the steps at the beginning and the slick rock at the top. The bulk of the trail is along a single layer of sandstone that is on a gentle incline. This among the top 3 trails we covered in the southern Utah parks... Great views and interesting geology.
This is a beautiful trail. It climbs steadily, but we didn't feel it too badly since we are used to hiking in higher elevations. We are seniors and it took a good 3 hours with picture taking. Younger people fly across the rock much better than us. The trail is well marked with carins, but we still lost our way at one point - and waited until we saw others above us to know what way to go. So hiker beware! But everything about this trail is beautiful with a wide variety of amazing views. The arch was great, but the rest of the trail was great, too.
We have hiked this before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately they had closed the trail. If it is open, we would recommend this as a good hike.
Worth the effort but don't do it in the heat! More people are rapelling off this now days so messes up the pictures but so far we haven't seen any arch swingers thank goodness! Take time to have lunch at the top.
Great well maintained trail, albeit a little scary for me!So pleased I plucked up courage to make the journey. Have some great pics as a result. The scariest part was when the wind picked up and it felt like it could blow you off the edge at the top. Not for the faint hearted! Take your time and enjoy the experience.
It is great to see what could have been a hiding spot for Butch Cassidy. It would be a great lookout spot for outlaws to watch for invaders. Good imagination point.
Decided to hike this one while on the Grand Wash Trail and was not disappointed. Amazing views.. especially at the end although we didn't make it all the way to the arch (wife felt a little uncomfortable with the slick-looking terrain as we got near) Still a great hike and had a lot of fun!
