Nicely and with love and expertise prepared collection of hundreds of various guitars, bass-guitars and related technical stuff such as "classical" amplifiers and sound boxes (Marshall, Fender, HiWatt etc), and other nice related gadgets from the sixties and seventies such as taperecorders, vinyl record players.. Original instruments from early fifties such as the first series of Fender Broadcaster, Tele- or Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul and other pretty rare gems! Carefully prepared exhibition, plenty of space, well preserved guitars attractively situated and illuminated. We received a great guided tour from one of the twins, running this museum and got lot of further interesting details on the instruments shown. What I would suggest is to have the item descriptions in English, as well, in parallel to Swedish--only a few tables have this. Or a printed guide in English, at least. And, maybe some sound samples to get a better feeling of individual differences among those really hundreds of -- also visually beautiful -- instruments. Anyhow, brilliant job, guys!! It is definitely worth of seeing this unique collection!
This is a great place for those intrested in guitars! Very recommendable with many rarities. Nice to walk with the guide and get more details.
While I did go with a group, I found we were rushed through and not given a chance to visit at our leisure as there were other groups in queu. I wonder if I went alone if I would be able to truly appreciate their collection, which is quite incredible.
Fantastic guided tour. I´m not in to guitars but loved the stories and have to admit that the brothers were charming.
The museum has a great selection of guitars and some other instruments. It also features a fairly large music instrument store and a nice bar and restaurant. A great and interesting place to visit when in Umeå and it is located right downtown.
We had a conference dinner plus concert afterwards there. Really nice atmosphere, and so interesting to have a dinner surrounded by guitars in a museum :)
A museum dedicated only to guitars, can it be worth visiting? Yes, definitely! If you have the slightest interest in music from the early rock ages to today, you should take the guided tour to the museum. It is very interesting just not to see the guitars, but also the stories behind. Some of the guitars are unique. The guided tour will take around one hour, and after that you could visit the adjacent bar or restaurant.
Awesome variety to see..worth the time for music loversthe collection of guitars was amazing.. Some types of guitar were very rare in the world. Very useful to get a guided tour since then you will get more details about the history of the guitars and stories about the collection
I can't knock these guys spectacular and valuable life collection but I guess I expected some held, signed or having belonged to the top legends. The actual instrument Atkins, Page, Hendrix, Clapton, Clark, etc, played and thus 'those' guitars and moreover those songs and sounds from 'that' very object were missing for me. But I could very well see that they each have an amazing story to tell. They are therefore more than works of art. I hope some legends or estates donate their prized axes to these guys.
The owners are good story tellers, the collection is impressive and the story behind the museum is very good. Worth a visit for the connosseur.
