Must see if in or around the area. Hell, even go out of your way to see it. We arried at the bridge spanding over the river and were amazed at the beauty, the depth of the canoyon from the bridge alone. There aee many possibilities of adrenalin activities here as well, so it is well sorh a visit if you would just like a stroll over the bridge with magnificent views or to get your kicks from some adrenalin rush.Sadly at this time out of season all of these activities were shut down for winter. But I just see that as my cue to visit again in warmer times.
Whilst staying in Budva we decided to take a trip to Tara Canyon and do some rafting. I'm very glad we did, we had a great time. We booked the day trip via Best Tours, in Budva Old Town. We paid 55 Euros each with breakfast and lunch included. It is a long day but worth it. Our coach set off from Budva at 6.15am and we arrived back around 9pm. It took about 5 hours to drive including a few short stops on the way for refreshments & photos. Before rafting we were provided breakfast of cheeses, hams, eggs, bread. Rafting itself was fantastic, lasted about 2.5 hours. They provide you with wetsuits, helmets, shoes & life jacket. Make sure you have warm clothing to change into afterwards. Lunch was served after rafting about 3pm - fish or meat choice, both very tasty. The Canyon is spectacular, great views. Would highly recommend!
We decided for a trip organized by Tara River Express from Zabljak. Their info point was opened late evening and staff was very professional and gave us all the info-reliable partner. The rafting itself is at that time of a year rather smooth, no adrenalin at all, but the River is in wonderful scenerii and has a beautiful colour. The price 46 euro per person including jeep transportation, equipment and small lunch is maybe not small but quite worth it..
This place is beautiful.Though we just had a trip from Zabljak to Mojkovac (no rafting etc. ) but the views are breathtaking even if you have seen a lot of mountains in your life. A must visit place!
Tara River Canyon is the 2nd deepest canyon in the world and the biggest in Europe. The water is a mesmerising aqua blue with white peaks where the rocks are exposed. There were massive ice formations on the sides of the canyon and the snow covered villages on both sides of the canyon were very picturesque. If you're in the Durmitor National Park, this small detour is a must-see in Montenegro.
Far 4 hours from Budva by car, the rafting was excellent in the river. We arrived there a bit late so we couldn't catch the morning rafting, we caught the 2p.m. one. We reserved through a local company up there (there are many in Zabaljak) and we chose the best price with the best package including a lunch in a restaurant with local food and not just sandwiches (take the one with the lunch in the restaurant and not just the sandwiches and juice when you finish the trip because it is approximately the same price but the lunch is good and the food is tasty where you have to choose from many options in the menu). The experience overall was excellent and to remember later on.
It's a must when u travel to montenegro. It's a bit far from where we were (budva) but worth the wait. Enjoyed 3 hours of rafting :D
Tara canyon very beautiful. We went rafting. It was hip. We did a half day raft; I would recommend forking out for a two day trip.
been there last year i was impressed by the untpouched landscape, lots of animals to spot on the road to the canyon. great views to the lakethat makes the border to Albania.
