Liked the market square and walking paths around the old town. Everything is beautifully restored. Wonderful place to stroll.
Zamosc is known as the "Pearl fo the Renaissance" and it is easy to see why. A conservation program designed to restore and protect the architectural heritage of the old town was begun in 1934-37, and further restorations occurred over the next decades. The Old Town was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1992. This is a town that is trying hard, and has produced a very detailed pamphlet that includes a walking tour, map and description of the historic sites. Everything is within easy walking distance, and we thoroughly enjoyed a twilight walk in this beautiful town. The main square was a lively place, with both tourists and residents enjoying the warm weather and the folk festival that was taking place that evening. Unfortunately, it was getting dark so my pictures do not do Zamosc proper justice. It was however, a charming town, filled with friendly people, and I thoroughly enjoyed my few hours here. Well worth a return visit!
We found Old Town in Zamosc one of the best places to visit in Poland. Parking is free and easy near the Great Market Square. There are excellent cafes, restaurants, and hotels nearby. There's an excellent museum, beautifully decorated houses, wonderful churches and a synagogue which has been nicely restored. Bernardo Morando, the Italian architect who designed the "ideal town" would be pleased at how it turned out.
A renaissance town, having gone through many changes of ownership and rulers. Set on key trade route. Very well preserved, pretty and easily walkable.
Stare Miasto w Zamościu jest urocze w swojej klarowności architektonicznej i kolorystyce. Wszechwładny renesans rozświetla przestronny rynek a dominujący Ratusz na zawsze zapada w pamięci swoim wyrazistym pięknem. Dla poszukujących romantycznych miejsc jest tu wiele podcieni, sklepików, galerii, kawiarenek, podwórek i klatek schodowych.
City designed and built in accordance with the Italian theories of the "ideal town", it is renaissance pearl in Central Europe, beautiful town square with arcades around, especially armenian tenement houses are worth to see, also inside where, I found very nice details like stone friezes. Everything interesting is in a walk distance, many restaurants in the centre. I was there with a larger group, we rented tour guide, one of the best I've ever had. I was there during a rainy day, I wish to come back
The main square, town hall and surroundings are really charming. I visited Zamosc after 12 years - nowadays I see that a lot of work and funds have been put into renovation and reconstruction of significant part of the old town. Old Zamosc was built in accordance with the Italian renaissance theories of "ideal town". A lot of places may be visited. Many cafes and restaurants. Surely worth at least a full day of your time. Guided tours are organised by the tourist information located in the town hall.
