I visited the U of A for a session in the Technology Learning Center. The University has a nice set up with state of the art Macs with labs of different sizes.
We went to the campus to watch a volleyball tournament and was disappointed by the amount of money that was charged to park in the parkade, especially when it is off peak time for the campus being we visited in July. in addition the signage to find the gym was poor which resulted in us spending 15 minutes lost wandering around on campus trying to find the right gym.
As an alumni, I love my University and have seen it grow into a great institution. The tour was great as we could see how it grew from when we went.
The University of Alberta in Edmonton has two major campuses, the South, where regular subjects seem to be studies, and the North, which seems to be devoted largely to medical, pharmacological and medical-scientific research and training. A huge hospital is there with big medical clinics. The South has more traditional campus views, large lawns and a few traditional buildings, along with some modern ones. But the North Campus is stunning in its colorful and create ultra-modern architecture; and the sheer scale of that operation needs to be seen. A good place for camera buffs who like buildings to go and take some shots.
It absoute worth to spend a few hours to visit this well established university campus. Unique constructions of old and new buildings locate orderly. You can find reading atmosphere all around inside the campus. Scenery outside the campus are beautiful especially with snow. I am sure you will have a good time if you can find a graduate of this university to show you around.
The old "Tuck Shop" no longer exists, but there is a nice shopping mall on campus. The Rutherford museum on Saskatchewan drive is definitely worth a visit.
The campus is well-laid out. Buildings are well-appointed. The residential selections are varied and complete with amenities. Offices are well-appointed as well.
Well run tournament and good facilities. Very loud with 20+ courts of games and whistles. We played at Saville Centre and there was a sandwich vendor and DQ. Close to LRT transit, only 500 m walk.
The campus is fun to visit and the Golden Bears play great hockey. Visit the HUB or SUB and enjoy a lot of little out of the way places to grab a snack.
Hi. If you are travelling to Edmonton specifically to attend a course and need accommodation, I recommend the Alberta Place Suites. The UofA Faculty of Extention is in this beautiful building that is centrally located, and within pedwalks of major shopping and food outlets. The Facility itself is clean and well-maintained with a security desk and guards.
