Egisheim is chosen as the most beautiful and best conserved small village in the Alsace region. Already in the time of the Romans was here a castle, in which probably was born in the year 1002 “Bruno von Egisheim-Dagsburg”, who became in1049 Pope Leo IX.In the 19th century a big part from the castle has being broken off together with the octagonal medieval tower, which they replaced by a neo-roman-Byzantine chapel to remember Pope Leo IX.Nice item during tour of the village, do not miss it.
This little village is approx five Kim's from Colmar. Very easy to find, take Avenue de la republique to road 83. The prettiest village in France, like something out of a fairy tale. Allow plenty of time to walk the streets and discover the wonders of this place. An absolute must do!!
On a visit to Colmar, a friend insisted that we visit Eguisheim. He said it was the village of wine. It is a nice small village with typical small house of old times but really well kept and maintained, but don't be deceived it has good modern infrastructures and even a big Supermarket. The village is nice, clean and very calm. There are a lot of places where you can walk in and taste and buy wine and quite a number of restaurants also. it's really nice and above all the people there are really really nice and friendly. The streets are nice and quite small. So I advise you park and then walk through the village. It's a heaven for all wine connoisseurs. Be careful, there are a lot of One way streets in Egusheim if you have a car...
This is such a lovely little place! Strolling down its streets is like being in another century. It's a great town to let your toddler loose and just follow behind. Not to be missed!
Éguisheim is a beautiful and cosy little town. Its streets are full of beautiful medieval little houses. And the small church is very nice. It is a "miss not" place if you travelling thru Alsace. Ahh, it is full of winehouses for you to taste and buy excelent wines. It was a wonderfull surprise for us.
O centro histórico é muito especial, com lindas casas de madeirame à vista, muitas mostras o ano de sua construção. Gostei bastante!
Beautifully restored streets and houses will have your camera clicking like crazy. Lots of lovely details. Not to be missed. If you see nothing else don't miss this town.
This village is so pretty, you can't help taking several photos. It is easily accessible along the wine route and the town is very small and walkable. I am sure it is overrun with tourist during high season, but we had few tourists and lots of locals. Definitely worth a visit.
The houses are all uniquely colourful, the roses are huge and blooming. The people are shy, the pace of life is slow.It takes about 45 minutes to walk around the town, we were able to go during the week when no tourists where around and so loved the lazy stroll.A place to retire maybe.
Very pretty village in Alsace with a circular walk - called "la ceinture" (belt) - between medieval buildings; also has an attractive square by the main church. There are also a few incredibly narrow timber-framed houses which jut out from the others and are very photogenic. Plenty of shops and places to eat/drink; we found some free parking just by the side of a main road on the edge of the village, from where it was five minutes' walk to the centre. Definitely worth pausing here for a couple of hours if visiting the Wine Route villages.
