The village is absolutely beautiful. Wonderful to walk around in such a beautifully kept village. When we were there it was warm and sunny and so peaceful, not many people visiting and none of the restaurants or shops were open, but it was still worth seeing and I expect that it would be very busy in season!
We drove along the shore from Antibes up to Eze, and enjoyed the entire trip. Even in January it was gorgeous! After exploring this picturesque village, which was s bit of a climb but not too bad, we sat out on the terrace of a chateau and sipped an espresso and hot chocolate with Chantilly cream, enjoying the view as the sun began to set. This was a perfect stop for a quiet afternoon, and I won't soon forget it.
Travelled to Rome, France, Italy etc as part of a cruise and this unique amazing stone village was by far our favourite. A quick bus ride (15mins at most) from the shore and you enter into this ancient feeling village. You walk up and up, shops carved into the stones, one tiny turn after another, it just keeps getting better. It really does take your breath away. Take your time here, everything is worth seeing. We stopped for lunch at the Garden Cafe as part of the Chevre D'Or Hotel and the ocean view was again, the most stunning. The food, amazing! Overall, this is a must see!
We've travelled quite a bit but never saw a place as unique as Eze! It's a stone city built into the side of a mountain. Just wandering around and climbing the steps is awesome.
This place rewards a slow exploration. From the moment you step through the gate, take time to enjoy the traffic free streets. Explore the artisans' shops, enjoy the bars and the restaurants; take in the views and stroll around leisurely. Wait a few moments for the people ahead to turn the corner and take your people-free photo to remind you in times of stress what stress free moments you enjoyed in Eze.
spectacular location and very cute, but now more or less a theme park dominated by the hotels, almost entirely closed in the winter
Why Eze is not on the "Les plus beaux villages de France" list is beyond us. Simply fantastic. Careful the streets are for pedestrians only, and can be a bit steep at times.
This medieval town is unusual. It is built on a high hill which looks like a cone. The town is built on the side of the hill on the way up to the top where the castle was located. The castle only has basic ruins left but the views from the top are incredible, 360 including the Mediterranean. There are many shops and artists showing there wares. On the way up to the castle, there is an unusual succulent garden. Well worth the visit.
