It's a good place to see a musical show or play. The seating is a little tight, but like stepping back in time.
This Theatre is a wonderful place to go. Our favorite is the Musical Christmas Carol....We love to have Dinner at Frog Hollow and then to the Theatre. Brings back so many memories of the beautiful old theatres.
I have already seen all the performances they have here many years ago. It is great for children who go on field trips. Affordable tickets but you will not find Broadway level performances here. I have heard that they are planning on renovating but things happen very slowly in this area.
There are only four stalls in the women's bathroom. Be prepared for a LONG wait. The seating in the balcony is ripped. Paint is peeling off of the beautiful walls. It is just sad. The beauty of the facility must be revived, because the productions are top notch!
I liked that this place has historic value and is downtown Augusta. The seats are not very comfortable and the parking is not always convenient but overall, this is a nice place to see the various shows that come to Augusta periodically.
This theater has hosted some of the biggest names in country, bluegrass, rock-and-roll. Fortunately the city has preserved it and it is used regularly.
Intimate, old vaudeville theatre that has been in operation since 1918. It shows a little wear, but overall is in very good shape. Great place to see live music, plays and old movies . Hosts the Southern Soul & Song series which always features some of the top names in country and bluegrass. Also the home of the Augusta Players, as well as select Westabou and Arts in the Heart performances. Not a bad seat on the floor or the mezzanine. The first balcony isn't bad either, but I wouldn't want to sit in the second balcony.
Jeanne did a one night stop at the IT and spent a couple hours telling her stories. I'd heard several before, but there were also a number of new stories. Jeanne knows how to tell a funny tale!
As a performance venue, Augusta's Imperial Theatre has much to offer. Many of the decorative elements survived past renovations, evoking the theatre's more glorious past. In this intimate venue, sight lines are excellent and the sound quality is very good, although less so in the balcony. For many events, adult beverages are available in the lobby area, and you can take the beverage to your seat (few cup holders are available). All in all, the theatre is an important attraction in downtown Augusta, and one that should be better utilized. Planned renovations should enhance the theatre's appearance and improve comfort for patrons. As noted by other reviewers, parking can be a chore. I usually find a spot along 7th Avenue and walk the half block to the theatre.
Old small theater that has been saved and is gradually being restored. Great music events here at very affordable prices; gets us to drive over from Atlanta. Great seats in front rows of balcony. A nice place for a night of live music. Check out their scheduled events and enjoy
