This campus of 50,000 students is always buzzing with activity. If you are wandering through the street around the dorms on a Friday, you will probably see students carrying large garbage bags or pillow cases filled with dirty clothes as they pack their cars for a weekend visit to mom's to get their laundry done. Spend some time on Guadalupe Street (The Drag) to see how students spend their free time.
It was lovely spring day, and we enjoyed walking around the campus, especially the central area which looks south to the Texas Capital and downtown Austin. The carillon is played by a very creative pianist, and we enjoyed listening to classical as well as modern music.
This is a small campus but very nice and clean and great to visit. Lots of good restaurants nearby since all those kids like to eat.
Much to see here. Almost every department has an information booth and/or displays explaining what takes place in the building(s). There are many lectures open to the public and one can sign up for special tours of specific regions of the campus.
If you are looking for Texas 'Horns' gear, the co-op is perfect. The campus is one of the biggest in the country and is a nice solution for a long walk.
We went to see a basketball game at the Irwin Center. We had topark across IH-35 at the baseball parking area. Thank goodness my life insurance is paid up. But for UT it is worth it !
You need to go to learn the legacy of LBJ. A must for everyone, adults and kids. Visited in winter, but I believe you will be able to scape the heat during the summer learning!!
It is a great university to walk around. I hear their academics are awesome too. Not sure where it's located, but there is a pretty cool pavilion with many statues/sculptures. There athletic facilities are all first rate as well.
I lived the tower tour! Guides were very informative and history displayed inside was interesting to see. It was great to get a birds eye view of the campus and downtown from every direction! I am also a fan of all of the architectural details on the buildings in campus. Beautiful!
Clouds of bats. What more could you want? There was also a friendly crowd in attendance. Parking is a bit of a chore though manageable.
