Romantic and peaceful place. good restaurants: sword fish, orachiette and torta della nonna highly recommended
This was a lovely little place to visit. We were there early in the morning and the light was beautiful. It was so tranquil walking along the harbour wall but the town was lively and interesting with lots of restaurants and bars. Highly recommended
If you get the chance to pass through for a day make sure you do! Bellissimo! Perfect for a romantic dinner or lunch by the sea
Diificult to find parking especially in the summer evenings but if you do get lucky, then do take the time to have a walk about and enjoy the sights.Wonderful vibrant place to have dinner, a cocktail, a beer or just a walk - day or night!. Suitable for couples, families, friends and even on your own.
Beautiful town with an amazing castle and cathedral. Easy toget there by train and very cheap. It onle cost us E 5.00
Trani is simply charming. With a unique setting by the water's edge, its majestic cathedral of San Nicola Pelligrino built of the local dazzling white stone is not to be missed. Everywhere you go, the campanile draws the eye. Photo opportunities abound in all directions. The Chiesa di Ognissanti built by the Knights Templar as a chapel for the adjoining hospital is another gem worth visiting. There is little by way of a sandy beach in Trani but this does not stop local families from sunbathing on the rocky shores of this old fishing port and swimming from there. The water felt very warm when we visited Trani at the end of June.Half an hour away by train is Bari with its splendid Basilica di San Nicola which was built in 1087 to house the relics of St Nicholas of Myra. View its facade from the Lungomare; what a sight for medieval seafarers and Crusaders. Look out for the episcopal throne or cathedra of Elias, Abbot of San Nicola and Archbishop of Bari. Sculpted from a single slab of white marble in 1098, this is a masterpiece of Italian Romanesque sculpture. Note the fine details of the facial expressions of the figures supporting the seat and their garments as well as symbols of Christian iconography on the bas-relief band on the edge of the seat.Bari Cathedral is another mighty Romanesque church of Apulia which is well worth a visit.
the wonderful church near the water -you have to go up to the second floor its amasing nice and speical
Beautiful white stone town centre around a gorgeous harbour, Great food too. Quite a big town with ugly outskirts though and very busy traffic, difficult to negotiate without good map.
The old part of Trani was really a surprise. With its white stone buildings in the square, the castle at the edge of the sea, the amazing cathedral and lovely port, an ideal day out. Take a stroll along the marina with its restaurants and bars. Walking along the narrow streets you see the Jewish quarter and the interesting Romanesque church of Ognissanti built in the Xll century. This church was believed to be a meeting point for the Knights Templar before setting off for the crusades.
Don't miss to visit this wonderful place on Apulia's adriatic coast, north of Bari. From old little streets facing the harbour till the dramatically masterpiece of Romanic art . the Cathedral - with it's high belltower - all bring you to middle age time. From this port crusaders left to Palestina to move war to muslim in Holylands.
