Good wine, fun events. A little on the price side. I recommend going on sunny days so you can sit outside.
Loved visiting this winery! It is gorgeous and the best wine! Staff is super friendly a day gracious too! You must do a wine flight and also grab some bottles to take home with you too!
The winery sits out in the middle of corn fields and soybean patches so it's easy to spot the perfect rows of supported vines as you get closer to their driveway. Parking is easy with lots of room to pick your spot. Tours are by appointment only, so they were not able to give me a tour, BUT the salesperson was friendly and helpful. I bought a bottle of wine as a gift, so hopefully it will be a good choice, a suggestion by the salesperson after describing what I was looking for taste wise and wanted to keep it as local as possible. They do grow about 20% of the grapes they use.... if you are in the area, it's worth the time.
My wife and I visited Mallow Run Winery in October of 2013. I just realized I never have written a review. We went for the live music they had that day. The winery is in the country and looks the part. The main building looks like a large metal barn on the outside, but the inside is very rustic, yet quaint. They serve some snack foods mostly like cheese, crackers and fruit. They do frequently offer a special meal (check their website). I'm not a big wine drinker; I prefer beer. My wife is more of a wine drinker. The winery offers samples of their wines. One of the workers suggested we try their rhubarb wine. I made a face and declined, but she insisted and said it is their best seller. We both tried it and absolutely loved it! We also loved their picnic red and blackberry wine. The atmosphere is great and so are the staff. We found out later on that we love their blackberry dessert wine. It comes in a small bottle and is fortified with brandy...watch out because it will sneak up on you! It's always a fun and relaxing time to visit this winery, whether or not they are having live music at the time.
We've been to many wineries all over the country and now have this one near our home. The owners have done a wonderful job promoting their product which is not just the wine but also the experience. It is a fun place to visit with a nice variety of wines that should satisfy any taste. Definitely worth a visit.
This is a great place to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday enjoying some great wine. On the weekends in the summer they host outdoor music concerts. The only drawback is the interior seating in the tasting room is a bit small, but the service is outstanding!
Took advantage of Deal Chicken offer soup, bread, wine. Lunch for half off. Ate on a covered, heated outdoor patio that was comfy despite the cold and snowy outdoors. Food was good, wine was better and the bluesy band was a bonus.
Very good wine and nice people working! Knowledgable staff and a quaint place to visit. They have great live music outdoors in the summer. I definitely recommend! As a bonus, they are supporters of the local animal shelter! Please go visit this fine place and try some fabulous wines!
There are very pleasant rural surroundings. You get 6 tastes of wine you choose from their list. Very knowledgeable about their wines. I had a lot of questions.
Great place. Good wine, entertainment, and the owners are very nice. Went into get a bottle of wine and the let me try whatever I wanted.
