I think the bridge should become one of the historical landmarks of the region with its unique construction and the powerful stream of Brenta underneath carrying icy waters and gravel from the Alps. The place is surrounded with bars and interesting museums (Alpine museum. Grappa museum, Palazzo Sturm). On weekends it becomes a popular meeting point of local people; so it is worth to see more than once.
The ponte degli alpini is also known simply as the ponte vecchio and is beautiful. Standing on it you get a beautiful view of the mountains and countryside. The ponte vecchio and the immediate area is a bit of a hot spot for the younger crowds, who meet on it and then head to the local bars.
This is a charming old wooden bridge, beautifully situated in the center of the town and made out of weighty and historic wooden beams. It is a joy to walk over or under and it makes a fine place to sip an Aperitivo as the sun slips down over the Veneto
An engineering feat and is made up again after it was destroyed during one of the world war.Place is very romantic for couples.
A great area to walk and stop for a drink. On this day there was a bridge festival and a local town choir singing and models of the bridge through the years on display. We had a Grappa in the bar at the end and if you are on the bridge look at the buildings around as they still have the bullet holes left in the plaster on the walls from WW2 conflicts. It's a town full of history and it's a great place to walk around and see.
A beautiful photo opportunity with the famous bar selling the local Grappa at one end, which is a must to try.
This bridge in Bassano del grappa is one of my favorite bridges in Italy. I heard it was built by shipmakers thus the shape of the roof that resembles the bottom of a ship. Every year there is a small parade by the Alpine military to celebrate the bridge.
This bridge was built by Palladio the famous architect of the Italian renaissance. It was destroyed and rebuilt several time in the past centuries but kept the original structure. From this bridge you can have a magnificent view of a part of the town facing the river, if the day is sunny the spectacular colure will enjoy your eyes!
This bridge is visually very interesting and leads to an area of the town thronged with bars and restaurants.Great buzz around the area at the weekend and really a good place to see and be see .
Will never forget this place. Peaceful, lots of small restaurants around. Just loved it. Bring cash! Almost no place that will accept your credit card.
