We visited on as wet and cold day. It was a delight. The ship is lovingly restored and the tour guide clearly loved the ship and was animated and very proud while telling us about it. This ship is a gem, very close to the titanic exhibition, but very real and interesting.
When visiting Titanic Quarter don't miss the "little sister". Nomadic is well worth a visit. Our guide Laura made history come alive. Nomadic's story is full of ups and downs, twists and turns amazing that it survived it all. Beautifully restored. After the tour you are free to stay on and look at all the interactive exhibitions.
Easy to find, appropriately close to the Titanic museum. A real success story, for there is so much more to the SS Nomadic than meets the eye. Clearly the SS Nomadic is well loved by the tour guides. The exhibits are well presented, the information good, even dressing up is offered; a lot of thought has gone into the presentation here. The tour guides are knowledgeable, if perhaps a little too exuberant on occasion!
The problem with any exhibition on the Titanic is that the ship itself cannot actually be visited (obviously!) so going round the Nomadic is certainly the next best thing because it was used as a tender taking passengers from Cherbourg Harbour to the ill-fated liner. Although the Nomadic has had a varied and colourful history since 1912, it has retained a substantial number of original features, all of which were carefully explained by our guide. Restoring this ship was clearly a labour of love, and a tour provides some new insights into the history of the Titanic and the White Star Line.
Everything about Nomadic from the ship itself to the level of the restoration work to the information and interactive displays are fantastic, but the highlight for us was our guide (Laura), whose enthusiasm and obvious passion for the Nomadic really set the ship alive for us.
Although overshadowed by the Titanic Experience, this is not to be missed. Looks average from the outside but this is a great tour and the guides are very informative. Can easily do in 2 hours so you can do the titanic and nomadic in one day.
loved the fact that this was the actual tender ship to the titanic and it has a fair few original features. You can walk around and compare the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class areas. Plenty for kids to do, dressing up, games, interactive screens etc.
We were very pleased to board Nomadic as part of our walking tour of the Titanic quarter. Well worth visiting the ship since you are getting full of historical information. Do not miss this.
The tour of the SS Nomadic was a lot more than we had expected. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us insight into what it was like to travel back in those days. Well worth taking a couple of hours to view.
When visiting the titanic quarter well worth a visit to go across the road to see the Titanic sister ship.. My children enjoyed the day
