Great track. It feels a little neglected which is a real shame. Some very challenging holes but worth the money. We enjoyed it
This is a nice course in good condition and well worth playing. Very efficient starting playing into a relaxed round.
We have seen the sign for the $2.99 breakfast for a long time so my wife and I stopped before shopping (UGH!) The eatery is casual and clean for a golf club. Service was prompt and the food was worth more than $2.99. I mean it was pretty good for the price. Eat at Denny's or other sit-down and be prepared to spent $8 plus.
My wife and I have played this course many times. In high season, like many, it's not a pleasant experience but that's not the fault of the Club as it's demand driven. In these situations we felt that they were trying to overload the course which results in play so slow that you want to walk off the course. In these situations they want to have 4 balls going out (understandable) but although we're of a good standard the last time it happened we were paired with a couple who played off virtual scratch and didn't seem to like that we were not of the same standard!!The Course itself is quite challenging. However the first hole has the practice driving range area directly adjacent to it which I personally hate as stray balls encroach onto the fairway if you are marginally off-line with your Tee Shot it's play hunt your ball amongst a zillion others!!!However there are some very interesting and challenging holes in some beautifulareas of natural beauty. We also had a Raccoon trailing us at one stage too.The Course can be variable in quality.Across the way is Rosedale which we've played which is Private (and more expensive) but in better shape - which you'd expect. The guys in the Pro Shop have been mentioned and in our experience and with only one exception they've been very helpful. There's also a decent Bar with a range of food that's pretty good too.
Play numerous times a year. First the hierarchy of some local courses: Class B – The Legacy, Waterlefe, River Strand; Class C – River Club, Stoneybrook, Tara Preserve; Class D – Rolling Green, Saranova. Class A would be The Concession which I will never be able to afford. So going here knowing that you are golfing a “C” golf course, you should enjoy your round. The layout is typical Bradenton/Sarasota that winds through a subdivision. Most of the time you can’t see the next tee box from you green. Haven’t had any real back-ups in many rounds. Couple of the tee boxes are mediocre. They were located in a chute and the trees blocked the sun. The trees have been trimmed and new turf put down, but still kind of rough. Driving range is adequate, staff is ok. The price is in line with its rating compared to the other courses. It is not as nice as the Legacy, but you are also only going to pay $70 instead of $100 during season. When I want to get in a quick round, this is the course I play.
They are very strick on NO personal coolers!!! But then their water jugs are empty and filthy. Their was no beverage cart!!!! It was 97 degrees outside and no water anywhere. I called the pro shop and he could care less!!! After the ninth hole it's a mile cart drive back to the clubhouse. The don't have cooler for rent at clubhouse. This place sucks do not go here!!! Terrible customer service and very run down!!
Served by most helpful staff in the pro shop and made very welcome. Early summer morning the course was busy but moving the etiquette of golf being followed.Would highly recommend this course based on its value for money and the challenges of alligator occupied ponds! Downside, antiquated system of providing drinking water on the course, nevertheless worth playing.
Great place to get 18 holes in. If all you do is par the signature 16th hole, you're doing good. This is my go to course in Sarasota/ Bradenton.
Fun course from the blues...a little over 6400 yards. Would highly recommend the course. Staff was freindly. Only suggestion is a little better mapping bewteen holes. Almost got lost a couple of times. Absoluting on the play again list. Great price,$25.
I read a lot of reviews on this place, so I came in with reservations to say the least. Mostly in regards to staff. My experience was good. Check in was smooth and a gentlemen met us half way to the clubhouse to pick us up and grab our bags. Gave us some direction as well. Counter staff were fine and the rate booked online was what was charged. Starter was pleasant and got us off early and in the twosome that we wanted- but not asked for. Rangers were nice as well. Now comes the part your waiting for- the members. The group behind us was a foursome of ram jamming a holes who didn't let up all day. I didn't even bother to say something to the ranger, as he had his nose up there backside all day. Big hitting yuck yuckers who hit into us at least 6 times- knocking balls onto the green before we even got into our cart! I would say this is not the courses fault- but their ignorance towards this sort of behavior is what breeds stupidity and rudeness like this. We are not slow players by any means- and when a course is stacked with 4 somes from 1-18, where are we to go? Even with all the push from this 4 some of idiots, we still finished in 4 hours- which is standard I would think. All in all the course is well worth the money. The greens are awesome- fast, undulating and true. I would definitely recommend this course. Just hope that you don't get put ahead of a 4 some of club leaning hand on hip in fairway, small time country club wanna be idiots like we did. Not the fault of, but kind of is- The River Club's fault. Message to River Club members- Your really not that special, humility and humbleness would become you idiots. Oh and just one more thing. The picture on their website- the one at the top with the green next to the water with the nice building in the background, apparently this hole doesn't even exist on this course. I never saw it! Too funny!
