Always wonderful gallery shows as well as a speaker series, film series, programs and well instructed classes
The museum does have pieces of fabulous art in their permanent collection. The rotating exhibits are extremely well displayed. The museum itself is a beautiful building lending itself to a perfect background for visitors to enjoy the beautiful exhibits.
Great little museum. Not the type of place you'd expect to find in a little town like Vero. Excellent exhibits, great permanent collection and an neat little gift shop. Located on beautiful ground in a park like setting on the Indian River.
Average fair, sandwich, salad type things. You walk through a line to make your selections, then carry it to a casual seating area. The whole experience is very casual but fine, after touring the museum. Most are not going there just for lunching.
I am from Chicago so it's hard to compare but for a small museum it's well worth a visit. It's a beautiful building and it has wonderful art pieces inside as well as some nice schulptures outside. This is a nice thing to do on a dreary day ! They don't seem to get many of those around here compared to Chicago !
You really don't expect high end museums in small Florida cities like Vero Beach. However, Vero Beach is unique in having a large group of hyper rich folk living there (at least on weekends or for the winter). This means that they support and frequent little gems like this museum. Well worth a visit
This building is a beautiful edifice in a park setting located "on the Beach" in Vero Beach Florida. They have very mediocre art but have very nice shows and benefits. It fits the community perfectly and should be seen by visitors and residents alike. Their bookstore has wonderful holiday presents ; especially for children. I have been a member for as long as I have had a place on the treasure coast. I faithfully visit several times a year to see the latest show and especially to vieww some of the traveling exhibits that come here.
It doesn't take much for my family to find an excuse to visit the bright and cheery museum. Set along the Indian River in the middle of a beautiful park, the museum has constantly changing exhibits. The cafe is yummy and gift store full of one-of-a-kind treasures. The museum also has a long list of art classes. It's everything you'd hope for in a museum. Love it!
We found the exhibit and they had a tour guide who had a extensive knowledge of the artwork. We spent about an hour and 15 minutes going through the paintings and portraits and got a very clear explanation and understanding of the history of the paintings. And of the island of Haiti. We been there for other exhibits and always found the staff extremely knowledgeable.
The docents are very knowledgeable and make the exhibits even more interesting by sharing the history. They always have tidbits that go beyond the general knowledge. The context makes the exhibits special. The docents are very helpful and seem to enjoy taking the time to answer questions.
