Its ok for a one time visit, different dolls dressed in various indian attires and international . Located in 23 sector, a bit of walk to catch rikshaw . Please make sure you dont go on a monday, as its closed.
the guide books are wrong. the museum is closed on Mondays. it is inside Bal Bhavan. most taxi drivers dont even know of it.
Children will enjoy. The bride collection is beautiful. The dolls are old. If they replace, that it will be nice. Or at least they should be cleaning the dolls regularly. Doll museum - yes. International Doll museum - no. But still children enjoy. The play area outside has old broken slides. Don't even let your child try.
The International Dolls Museum, located in Bal Bhavan in Sector 24, has a large number of collection of dolls from around the world. The museum was conceived by a Rotarian, Mr. Rajendra K. Saboo, a local industrialist who later became the world president of Rotary International (1991-92). Whenever he travelled abroad, he would bring a pair of dolls in local costumes, and even asked his travelling friends to bring one. Mr. Saboo also approached his Rotarian friends in Germany who gifted a working model of a train station which has a miniature city and three different trains criss-cross the railway yard. It is almost a 10ft x 5ft model electric toy train which children love. It was on 24th December 1985, that dolls from 74 nations along with the model toy train was gifted to the Chandigarh Administration by Rotary Club of Chandigarh. The place is now managed by the city administration.

Date of Visit: 30th Mar 2013Fees: 10 INR (adult entry), 5 INR (camera)This is a little known place in Sector 23B and it may not be easy to find so I have uploaded a photo of the map for Sector 23 (it's beside the Bal Bhavan, and near the corner facing Sector 23A and Sector 16C). Even for a middle-aged guy like me, I quite enjoyed looking at the various dolls and reading the information boards.+ points:(1) It has an impressive collection of dolls including those from various tribes of India, the brides of India, as well as dolls from at least 20-30 other countries. It also has dolls showcasing scenes from popular fairy tales (e.g. Cinderella, Snow White), the story of Buddha, and scenes from Ramayana.(2) The information provided on the boards are useful, interesting, and can be read easily (quite large fonts).(3) The lighting is generally good so can take quite nice photos.- point:(1) It's a small place and not so well known amongst the locals so you might have some problem locating it (hence I provided the above info).

Since children interested in dolls, went there to see. Good display and neatly maintained. Cultures of India nicely brought out. The international section was good. Went through the dress and culture across the world. The description regarding size, dialect, area and capital along with country was very informative.
You should make it a point to visit this place when in Chandigarh....well maintained and a good experience specially if you are visiting with children
