Our family has been going to the Myrtle Beach area for YEARS. We used to go to Garden City (south of South Myrtle) but changed a few years ago to North Myrtle/Cherry Grove. I LOVE the switch! It is closer drive for us plus it is more family friendly. The beach is very nice, it can be a short beach at high-tide, but it is perfect for families who want to have a nice beach vacation and not feel squished to death on the beach. They don't allow tents/canopys anymore so that is nice. The beach is very clean, plenty of lifeguards and very safe. There are several hotels and houses, it's a nice walk from the Cherry Grove Pier down to the other pier and back. Cherry Grove also has lots of stores, grocery, attractions, restaurants. We still go down into Myrtle Beach though, but you could stay in Cherry Grove area the whole time and be happy.
Love this mom and pop operations (actually run by a dad and his son). Not fancy but oh so convenient to everything including the beach!! I literally do not have to move my car unless I have my handicapped mother with me!!!!!!!! And even then we can use her wheelchair for a lot of outings!
If you like a quiet beach but still near all the attractions of Myrtle Beach this is the place. Plenty of room and family oriented.
Great Location of Resort to stores and activities. Clean Beach great views of the sunrise and sunset
Everything about Cherry Grove Beach is wonderful. The biggest attraction has to be the Cherry Grove Pier. There's a nice sized grocery store and it's not far from other attractions. And you have to eat at Tar Babies Restaurant. All you can eat breakfast buffet. It was closed this trip, however. Not sure if it's gone seasonal, or if we might have been too late, but it's a great, family restaurant.
If you're looking for a quiet place to set up shop in Myrtle, you can't beat Cherry Grove. Plenty of parking available... walk to the beach and turn left... the further you're willing to walk, the less people you will be around. Great views especially for the sunrise. Not too many people take advantage of this spot because it's not on the boardwalk - they are missing out.
Great family-friendly beach on the northern tip of NMB. Less crowds and quieter than other beaches of area. Beach is clean and quiet. Plenty of room to go to beach without others "invading" your leisure space on the beach.
North Myrtle Beach, SC is home to Cherry Grove, Windy Hill, and right next to Little River. This is the place to go for wonderful open beaches with free parking. A plethora of devine places to eat at reasonable prices. You don't have all the huge crowds and there is plenty of entertainment aimed at families and 50 plus adults. This is the home of the Shag dance. Check out the fine restaurants in North Myrtle Beach while there.Enjoy!
Away from the big crowds, this is the perfect place for a family getaway. Don't forget to check out the local market and restaurants too!
Avoid the crowded strips and even more crowded main drag and get a rental here. I want to keep it a well-known secret but it is truly a beautiful beach experience and I hope everyone who wants to combine the beauty of the Atlantic coastline with rest and relaxation finds time to visit this place. Sand was clean and beautiful and everybody seemed very happy with their place, no frantic activity or mindless noise that the more crowded beaches are packed with.
