A great golf course at a very reasonable price the best value in all of the US.. one of the top 100 courses in the US . Arthur hills is an amazing designer..
OK - i did not play golf/ haven't for years, but when a friend recommended the food (exec chef) i bit - and I keep coming back for more bites.excellent service - great food (I mean anything on the menu tastes great) and the tall pines outside the large windows set the scene.
THIS COURSE IS A MUST PLAY!!!!Clean, crisp fairways and greens, classic colonial club house and beautiful rolling hills. Right off of I-75 but feels like your hidden in wilderness. Just play it and write your own review. This course is great!
What a treat to be able to play a course that could easily qualify for a stop on the PGA Tour. Your visit starts with anticipation as you travel down the half mile, wooded lane to the club house. Suddenly, this beautiful, southern mansion style club house appears out of the trees. We were impressed already and had not even seen the course yet. Allow a few minutes to enjoy the clubhouse and the restaurant before you play. Jump in the cart and drive to hole #1, #10 or #19 (holes are numbered 1-27) as directed by the starter. Don't worry about which 18 holes you are assigned as my group has played them all and we can't pinpoint any discernible difference. Bring your three wood as a shorter driver of the ball will need it. Take your time and soak in the ambience of a quality course. Check out the green fees on line. Weekdays less expensive. Definitely worth the few extra dollars. A three course outing, with motel if requested, is available. There is a very pleasant young lady on staff to make the arrangements for you. The other two courses are Pine Ridge and Cherry Creek which are also excellent quality. Essentially Northern Michigan golf without the travel. You will not be disappointed. Rain cheques not an issue.
The course is beautiful. The course is surrounded by pine trees. No houses are in sight. The location is very convenient. It is equipped with full driving range, pro shop and clubhouse. Food is good and the price is reasonable, especially the price of wine. There are many elevation changes. The fairways are wide open. But due to the elevation changes It is easy to loose balls, especially for long distance hitter. When I play there, I feel like to have some obligation to fit in the course.
This course is open to the public, but feels like a completely private course. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There are 3 9's here, we played the last 9 and it was absolutely beautiful. Each hole is well designed and provided spectacular views.
Words cannot give proper due to this course. Beautiful, challenging. Meticulously maintained. One of the best courses in the Mid-West. This is one course you have to think your strategy through. Be prepared to savour every moment as it is more of an experience than just a round of golf.We will be back
The parking lot and club house are surrounded by Michigan pines, I mean dang near nothing but. It immerses you in that feeling you are playing a course in Northern Michigan. The club house is more invoking of a club house feel. The course is well maintained and challenging. It will challenge the more seasoned golfer without alienating those of us (me) who are weekend duffers and don't drive the ball the 250+ yards.ADVICE: Bring your own beverage. While the clubhouse is stocked, there is no drink/food cart out on the course. Least not in all the times I've been there. It was 80+ when we played and I planned ahead. Put gatorade's in the freezer the night before and was stocked for the round. A dog at the turn, and I was set.
We (8 players) just returned from a golf trip in Michigan. The 3 golf courses that we played Cherry Creek, Shepards Hollow and Pine Trace were all fabulous. Great layouts with superior course grooming. Fun on each to watch different wildlife reacting to the golfers. The courses are all set up with 5 sets of tees so that golfers of all abilities can enjoy all that these courses have to offer. At each daily course we were greeted warmly and thanked for our participation in the Stay and Play package we used ( which was a fantastic deal). The package uses a Courtyard by Marriot which was very pleasant. Hotel staff was friendly, helpful and the rooms were well sized, very clean and comfortable. The package included breakfast at the hotel which was well done and convienient. You had a choice of hot or cold breakfast and each one that I ate was very good. Finally I would like to thank Kelly, the Stay and Play coordinator who was extremely helpful right from our first phone contact. She always help with several changes in our intinery right up to the day of our arrival.Anyone who loves playing golf will love everything about this package.
Wonderful course with very challenging layout on all 27 holes. Well manicured and worth a visit from anyone who loves golf!
