The station is a beautiful building and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Took the 6hr trip through the Taieri Gorge to Middlemarch. Beautiful scenery and worth the fare.
Fantastic architecture and easy access. Very helpful and friendly staff, Good range of souvenirs . Easy to walk round and get on to platforms for photos
It was a bonus to discover that for $50 we could travel up the coast past Port Chalmers (where our cruise liner was moored) and see some of the country side before we were returned to Post Chalmers in time to return to our cruiser). The gorge railway journey took up most of the days shore leave and is expensive so we were fortunate to stumble on this adventure back to Port Chalmers. It wasnt advertised on the boat.
The tile and mosaics are quite spectacular. It is near the center of town and is free, so make it a point to pop in and take a look.
Lovely old building, fantastic gardens, great for photos. Maintained immaculately both inside & out.
旅行团必停之处。虽然没国内的火车站壮观,但有自己的特色,体现在内部装饰的细节上。这里出发的火车只有观光用途的火车。站前广场上可以还看见马路对面的吉百利巧克力工厂。
Book in advance ad very popular. It is a very relaxing way to spend time. If you like train rides and scenery it is a must.
This must rate as one of the finest railway stations in New Zealand. The building is magnificent right down to the mosaic floor of the arrival hall. Absolutely stunning.
Make sure you visit this place while in Dunedin! It's a beautifully striking example of early 20th century architecture and best of all, it's free! The tile work inside the building is exquisite and very well conserved. There is even a gallery and an artisan crafts shop on the first floor if you like to look at pieces by local artists. Highly recommended!
It was a fun walk through the exhibits. Didn't have as much time as I would like too. The locomotive's outside were as interesting as the inside exhibit. Also, I was lucky in that a small car exhibit was taking place outside.
