登別温泉から洞爺湖方面に行くときに、ナビは海沿いの高速を推薦しましたが、あえて峠越えを選びました。道は悪路ではありません。でも、かなり標高差があり、途中でナビ通りがよかったかなと後悔もしましたが、全く道はきれいで走りやすく、結果的には見晴のいい景観を眺めながらのドライブを楽しめてよかったです。峠の頂上は９３０ｍあり、展望台で記念撮影しました。 高原ドライブって感じです。

We were considering whether to drive to lake toya via the highways or the orofure pass after visiting noboribetsu and were so glad we chose the latter.Firstly on the practical side, the time difference is really not much. Google map may indicate a much longer drive via the pass but it is based on the very slow speed limit. If you just follow the speed everyone is going at, it is almost the same as driving via the highways.Now, the more important part, the views are just magnificent with Mt Yotei in the backgound. There are a few parking stops for you to take in the views. Driving towards Lake Toya, they are just after the series of tunnels (through Mt Orofure) and immediately on your right after you exit the last tunnel.In fact for us, after enjoying the views, we decided not to spend money riding the ropeway up mount usuzan at lake toya. We would rank this view just after the views at Diasetsuzan and Biei area.

Right choice to drive Route 2 instead of expressway from Noboribetsu to Toyako. Very pleasant and quiet drive in the morning, meandering at times but not that bad. Great reward at Orofure Pass - a lookout point with car park.

洞爺湖と登別の移動に過去から頻回に利用しています。高速を用いるのと所要時間は変わりません。洞爺近くには多くの果樹園があり季節ごとに様々な果物が楽しめ、おすすめのコースです。

登別東インターで降りて道道２号線に入り、硫黄の香り漂う温泉街を抜けてオロフレ峠へ。２車線のよく整備された道路をくねくねと登っていきます。交通量は非常に少なめ。観光用の道路なので、トラックなどは見かけず、ドライブをゆったりと楽しむといった風情の車をよく見かけました。峠のオロフレトンネルを抜けたところにはトイレ付の展望台があり、ここでしばらく休憩しました。

A nice drive down to Lake Toya across the pass. May seem quite long on the GPS but truth be told, probably only adds about 30 mins to the journey. Nevertheless, quite a few places to stop and take pictures and definitely a scenic beautiful drive

We took Orifure Pass to Lake Toya and did not regret it. Beautiful scenery of mountains and lakes instead of taking the Highway to Lake Toya.

久しぶりにオロフレ峠に行きました。北湯沢温泉から行き、オロフレ峠を通って登別に抜ける予定だったのですが、道路がかわっており、今はオロフレ峠が行き止まりになっています。オロフレ峠のすぐ横に小さな山があり、高山植物などが見られるようです。トイレは汚いです。

他の方のクチコミで、「道路が変わっていて今はオロフレ峠が行き止まり・・」というものがありますが、ちゃんと洞爺湖から登別方面に抜けることが可能です。但し登別方面の傾斜はかなり急でヘアピンカーブもあります。運転には注意が必要です。行き止まりになっているのは旧道です。峠部分を抜ける「オロフレトンネル」が開通した現在では、旧オロフレ峠が「オロフレ峠展望台」となっており、そこで旧道は廃道となって行き止まりになっているのです。展望台から見える廃道はもうだいぶ崩れており、昔使われていたガードレールが半分宙に浮いたようになっていました。北海道らしいハードな光景です。ナビは初期設定では、有料道を優先して誘導するようになっているので、登別と洞爺湖の間のルートを検索すると、このオロフレ峠経由ではなく道央自動車道経由で案内するようです。

11月は凍結のため厳しいですが、5月に通ったときはスイスイでした。特に登別カルルスから壮瞥へと向かう途中の景色はアメリカ的で日本離れしており、特にオロフレ峠付近から見える羊蹄山の美しさは感動で涙が出そうでした。
