Very small, but well kept. If the price was a couple dollars cheaper per person it would be a good value. Took my kids and I 15 minutes to see everything, my husband took 30 minutes. Great gift shop.
If you are driving through Dickinson, this is an interesting museum at which to stop. It is small, but well organized. Bones are displayed in a central pit, not behind glass; and so it has a natural feeling. Photographers: you will need either a flash or high ISO for shots within the museum. A zoom lens is quite useful. There are some dinosaur sculptures outside the entrance which can be used for family snaps. One caution: the impact of the Bakken oil patch is strong in Dickinson. Traffic can be brutal. And accomodations are impossible if you have not made a reservation ahead of time.
Nice museum, it is small though, and most items are replica's. I probably would go back, as my son loves dinosaurs.
This is a small place, but a good place to take the kids. The information provided is good. Right next door is a museum to check out about the city of Dickinson
This well done museum is worth a visit. The dinosaurs will intrigue the kids; and the gem collection is excellent. The gems are beautiful and well displayed. This museum while moderate size is worth a visit and paying attention to each of the items is well worth your time. Staff is pleasant and parking is free. There is a small fee for the museum, but worth the price.
Privately owned and operated with excellent signage explaining what we were looking at. Book/gift shop well stocked and fairly priced. Very unique and wonderful displays.
Had great things and was interesting but overall was not worth the price. Gift shop had some great things for kids and will shop there again. Just didn't like the price.
I don't understand the 3- & 4- star reviews! This place is awesome. Yes, it's small but if you are willing to learn, read about all the items in the museum and your visit will easily span 1-2 hours. I grew up in Dickinson and visited this museum many times - never got bored of it. The gift shop is great and has many reasonably priced items. The dinosaur museum is a must-see in Dickinson!
Dinosaur and mammal fossils take up about 2/3 of the one-room museum just off the interstate. The other 1/3 is cases of mineral specimens. I've seen so many dinosaur museums (husband is a fossil hound) that I'm afraid I can't comment much on this museum's collections because I didn't pay that much attention to them (I'm bored already...). But I thoroughly enjoyed looking at their excellent specimens of various minerals. Each case also had a neat twist--a question card at the front with a teaser question that made you read all the descriptions of the specimens to find out the answer. Well displayed and educational!
We ate at kings buffet and decided to walk in the museum, thats just behind it. and very cool and unique, there also a enchanted highway of great farm art that is very cool to see.
