Thanks to our CIE tour bus driver, Dominic, we found the most amazing little pub that was packed to the gills with happy, friendly locals and tourists. No food here but the drinks were cold and the music hot. The owners act as welcoming committee, bartenders and band. The Irish music is just fantastic. By the time you leave, John and Denise know your name, everyone in your family's name and you are getting hugged and you are promising to come back soon.Which we plan to do - Sla'inte!
We were there 2 nights for the Irish music performed by locals. It's very busy so best to get there by 9 pm for a seat.
The pub it self is one of the best pubs in donegal. Music is the sole and life of the pub but the bar staff make it a warm cosy place and make everyone welcome. Don't think you could find a harder working barman than jamie (Jimmy) to most people :) can't wait to visit it again !!
If you're interested in listening to genuine Trad music in a true Irish pub, this IS the place. We were there on a Friday evening and the Reel Inn was a mix of locals & tourists. The regulars couldn't have been nicer & we felt right at home, as the collection of musicians lit the pub up.
Place packed with locals so you know it's good. Everyone was so friendly. We loved the music and all the different artists that kept coming in and sitting down and singing or playing. Please have Guinness when you're in Ireland. It doesn't taste anything like the schlock we have in America--it's creamy.
Great spot for a few drinks with traditional Irish music every night. John the owner is great craic. After work he will sit with the musicians and play his button accordian great craic. Just give it a go and enjoy
We found this pub by "accident" and we loved the athmosphere of the first night, so we were going there for the rest of our holidays. Staff is very friendly, every night there is a live traditional music with local singers...it's a must if you're in the area and you want to hear the traditional irish music in a pub.
We were on an organized trip around the north of Ireland. We spent several days in Donegal. The bus driver suggested the "Reel Inn". This was by far the highlight of our trip. Great music, great people and the Guiness was way to good. We are looking forward to a trip back and staying longer. The best of Ireland.
Good music .Friendly staff and customers. Very near our hotel .Recommended by our bus driver, who had been in Donegal before.
We were promised traditional music, waited over 2 hours only to hear there weren't enough people to play. I have no problem if they decide not to play, just stick to what you said a few hours earlier. So maybe it is a great place, just double check things for yourself & don't just take their word for it
