Stumbled across a flyer the day before not expecting much about a free comedy gig. MC Colm was hilarious inside 30 seconds tearing apart the audience members, it's an intimate venue that can only seat around 100 so go to the back if you want to escape! The show lasted 2 hours with 4/5 different comedians, all with great originality. Easily the funniest gig I have been to, at one point I was crying uncontrollably! It is free, and they give out ice cream!? What more do you want, get to this one night in Dublin!
Fantastic atmosphere. The MC is great and we loved the show every time we went there. I mean seriously now, this is a great show any night of the week, but for a free show on a Monday or Tuesday night you would be mad to complain. Go now and enjoy yourself.
Sunday nights can be a little tough to find something more up tempo than a romantic meal if you're a couple in town for a limited period. And if you you would rather do something other than just sit in a pub getting out of your face then this is for you. The Comedy Crunch is a free venue in downstairs at The Stage and gets locals and tourists alike. Donations are quested at the end for the 3 - 4 comedians you get to see during the evening. Each of the acts we saw had a different style and the length of time they were on reflected their relative experience. The MC holds things together brilliantly and if you're lucky enough to be near the front you might even get a free ice-cream during the short interval. My wife and I sat near the bar, which was more important than ice cream. You need to get there early, so have a pint or two in the Stag beforehand and watch carefully for people making there way towards the stairs around 8.00. The more good reviews it gets the more difficult it will be to get in the place, it only holds about 100, and we did see a few people turned away even before the first act had started.
There were four comedians, a bar, free entry and free ice cream. I liked 2 out of the 4 comedians. That's two stars (the first one wasn't funny and the third one offensive and disrespectful with his jokes about ISIS). The third star is for the MC Colm. He was funnier than comedians 1 and 3. The fourth star is for the fact that it's FREE! If I could give 4 and a half I would, since it was a great overall experience with a fun atmosphere.
Visited on the Monday night and it was so good we went back on the Tuesday night. Comedy is held downstairs and Monday night was very busy so advise to get there on time and to get a seat. A mix of locals, tourists and students made for a friendly atmosphere and a great pub to stay for a drink in afterwards. Laughed a lot and provided some good memories of the trip. Oh and free ice creams at the interval too!
Who ever knew Ireland had some funny people in it. They are funny for free and they give you ice cream during the interval.
Went here after being recommended just before our visit to Dublin. It's on Sunday, Monday & tuesday. It's free, funny & in a good place to visit other pubsOpens around 8ish, get in early and enjoy free half time icecream Compare is the funniest of them all
I went here when I was traveling last year, and it was a hidden gem. We found out from our hostel, and it was awesome hanging out with people from all different countries. Also, the comedians were hilarious, I would highly recommend it!
After going here once and laughing so hard, Comedy Crunch has become a weekly even for our apartment. If you're in town on a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and looking for a good laugh this is the place to go
I have been living in Dublin for about a year and a half now. I think on average I must go to the Comedy Crunch twice a month and I can say it is one of the best comedy clubs I have been to. It is different to regular (usually expensive) comedy venues. The variety of comedians trying new material it is great I've seen comedians from Finland, Russia, US and Canada here. Beside Dublin, Cork and Wicklow comedy. IT is just great, both Danny and Colm are great MCs. Usually you see starter comedians trying material and it is quite common to see comedians for which you would be paying 30€ anywhere else. Also the Stags Head pub pours one of the best Guinness in town and you get Lidl ice-cream which is actually not as bad as you might think.A must go on a Dublin Siunday-Monday (now also Tuesday) night
