Assuming you can enjoy a good beer. My fiance stopped by here after kayaking and before dinner and each got flight of their offerings. We were hoping just for an okay round of beers and instead got a round of things that ranged from very interesting to frankly fantastic. Our favorite was the raspberry saison. We would do anything to get that here at home. The place was packed with a good mix of people, and we had a very nice chat with the bartender about life on the island and how they approach their beer making. When I come back to the island, I'm bringing growlers and filling up as often as possible! If you come here, just be prepared to want to try everything and sit elbow to elbow with other people. Their samples are quite ample, so give yourself plenty of time to sip as well.
It's a little off the road in an industrial park, we missed it the first time we drove by. The parking lot it off to the side, across the driveway. But once you find your way in, you'll have the opportunity to sample the brews and enjoy some nice company. There's no food, but you can bring your own. Enjoy!
Island Hoppin' is one of Orcas Island's 'must do' when you want to enjoy local living. Becca, Nate and Jim have created a great space, brew terrific beers and are awesome hosts. Stop in!
One of the most friendly have fun kind of place. It has a great group of local patrons and visitors from all over which makes this a place to go to communicate in a pub like environment . The staff is extremely good at making great beer and being great to all that come. It may be a little hard to find but it's worth the effort. Ask the local folks on Orcas Is. They are so friendly.
We attended on August 14th around 6 pm and enjoyed the tasters of 6 beers. I loved their IPA and Porter. There was a live guitarist strumming away to add to the atmosphere. Both of our bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly. They knew their beer styles and possessed a good sense of humour.
After a bit of a meandering hike from the tourist area of town, we found ourselves underneath the flight path to a small airport & then spotted a sign for this brewery. I only had a single beer but I have warm feelings towards this seemingly new business. The patio area is a bit of a garage with a featured artist's paintings for sale that added class to this otherwise basic background. The bar area inside was cozy & pleasant. No meals to be had but some other tidbits to eat. The porter I drank was of a very high caliber. I look forward to visiting this spot again.
I adore their staff, their tasting room, and of course their brews! It's worth finding this treasure. take home growlers to your mainland-bound friends or taste test all they have to offer.
Brewery had opened since a previous visit to Orcas in 2012, a wonderful addition to Eastsound.Visited twice and enjoyed flights each time. Friendly bartenders, very social crowd.Enjoyed all of the beers but especially the ISA and raspberry saison. Got a "visitor" growler for refills and took one home each visit. Returned the empty growler last visit.Enjoyed Island Hoppin at local restaurants on tap. A great addition to Eastsound.
We stopped in after a day of hiking. They have a good variety of craft beers on tap. The IPA and Pale Ale were both excellent. One indication of the beer quality is watching the people pour in. The bartender was social and friendly. They have growlers available, but nothing in bottles yet. All the restaurants we visited in Eastsound had Island Hoppin' on tap.
My husband went there everyday with my brother in law to pick up a mini growler. If I couldn't find them I knew they were there.
