Small quaint and cozy playhouse!! Not a bad seat in the house. Classic Christmas Carol was our first play we saw, loved it!
Last night we saw Leading Ladies and enjoyed it. The show wasn't sold out, but hopefully word of mouth will spread that this was a good show. Acting was good and the audience laughed a lot. The end was a bit self-indulgent, long and drawn out. And the chairs are very uncomfortable.
we go yearly to see a christmas carol and it never disappoints. love seeing live plays! the playhouse is cozy and reminds me of an easier life for some reason. it is worth checking out if even just for one play a year like we do.
Cider Mill Playhouse is a fun venue for entertainment. Over the years, we have enjoyed a couple plays each season. You will be sure to find something that peaks your interest. The intimate theatre provides a good seat for all. Enjoy a beverage and support the local theatre. Enjoyed a family production of Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, this summer. We go the Cider Mill each autumn for cider, apples, donuts and treats.
This is always one of our favorite fall traditional spots to check out. You can get a tour of how the donuts are made and sample cider. I don't think the prices are reasonable, but it's worth tasting a hot plain donut. No where else compares it it.
The Cider Mill at Halloween time is a must stop. The fresh made cider and doughnuts.candy apples, cookies. plus they have live shows.
Nice place to view plays. Quaint atmosphere in an actual Cider Mill! Nice setting with terraced areas with small tables and offerings of food and drink to consume while watching the show. All seats have good views of stage. Quality of shows is professional using local and other talent.
I really enjoy going to this playhouse because every seat is good. I've been attending for many, many years. The acoustics are alright if theres not a lot of audience noise. The only time I find it the hardest to hear is unfortunately when theres a lot of children which is usuallly at their yearly Christmas Play called the Christmas Story. The props are very good for such a small space. They have a one level stage they use to put on the plays and it is small. Seating is in a horseshoe arrangement and in levels. However, if you are a party of two...tables are from two to four people and you might be put at a table for four with two people you dont know. The seats are very close together so you want to make sure that type of seating doesnt bother you. There's a bathroom in the "hallway" but you have to be able to go down stairs to get there. There's also a concession stand with a variety of soda, coffee, wine and beer, and snack type food. A bit on the high end for the prices. The price of most their plays run from $24-28 depending on day and time and senior citizen discount. Overall, this playhouse is worth going to spend a evening of very enjoyable entertainment. The cast in the playhouse is very, very good and any minor nuiances can easily be overlooked due to the quality of the plays they produce.
I am back visiting friends in the area. I would have loved to be here in the fall, but at this point I am missing donut and cider time, but enjoyed the play "Trying". Surprisingly the theater was not full of people...so I wished I could have moved to another table and not been so squished with 3 other people. But I stayed where I was and thoroughly enjoyed the energy and emotion the 2 actors put into their characters. They were excellent! Hope more people check out this play.
I love the Cider Mill. We look forward to the "cider season" every year and buy a jug every week. It's the best cider you'll ever taste!!
