it is still striving for consistency and brilliance. The "A fond farewell..." season has more than run its course.
Gifted musicians and conductors and guest artists. Good variety and repertoire of music. Nice choice of venue and free 45 minute educational session before the opera for those who would like to learn more background on the composer and his music. Active in the community and nurture young upcoming musicians, go into schools and educate youth, have a youth symphony, family activities, and so on. A real presence in the community in a very good kind of way.
Excellent out door concert at the Blue Stem amphitheater. Super musicians and performance. Will attend again.
I was a season ticket holder for 11 years until the new conductor arrived. His program selection is poor, usually the Composers Of Britain's Greatest Hits. Hopefully this will change sometime soon.
The FM Symphony is the best in the state. It attracts the faculties of the three Universities from Fargo Moorhead, plus their best students plus the best players in the region. Performances are on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Definitely worth attending if you're in the area.
The symphony hosts different events to attract families...one that we went to was Pops and Popcorn at Concordia. Not recommended for children with short attention spans, but this is good entertainment...not just sitting a listening to good music.
I try to see the Symphony at least once a year. They have many different venues they play, and I especially love their Christmas Concert!
