A group of us (three moms and 4 children ages 10-16) enjoyed this experience very much. The course has different levels so we started low and worked our way to the harder courses. Definitely an exhilarating experience! Be prepared to be challenged on the more advanced courses! The staff was amazing at helping us gear up, navigate the course, and ensure we had a good time.
We came for my daughter's 7th birthday. We brought along her best friend, who also just turned 7, a 9 year old, and a 10 year old. Everyone had a great time including my husband and I. Some of the elements were challenging, but it was a great workout and you felt a sense of accomplishment upon completing them. We did have a few small issues. First, we didn't book ahead. We were told the wait was 1.5 hours, so we gave our name and decided to go to lunch. One of the employees even recommended a great restaurant. However, we got a call about 20 minutes later that they were ready for us. Of course, by then, we were at the restaurant. They held our spot, but we wouldn't have even gone to lunch if they had estimated the wait better. Our second issue was we spent a fair amount of time, waiting in line because it was a busy day. They were nice and let us go over our two hours, but with the amount of people there, it would have been impossible to complete the 3 courses we did in that 3 hours because so much time was spent waiting for others to complete an element. The final issue is on the green courses, the two 7 year olds had several times where they couldn't reach the twezzles because they were too short. They also had several instances of getting stuck on the zip line in the middle because they weren't heavy enough to propel themselves across the zip line. The staff was amazing and stepped right in to help, but the courses definitely weren't built with a 7 year old in mind. They should probably add a weight and height recommendation to avoid this issue or lower te twezzles a little bit so 7 year olds tat aren't super tall can still reach. Overall though, it was a great time, albeit, an expensive one.
Ultimately we had a GREAT time!! We went thinking there would be a zipline "trail" and a ropes course "trail" but turns out they are all intermixed. So, to do the ziplines, you have to get through some rope work first. There are 4 levels of difficulty, so make sure you plan accordingly. There is one course for beginners, 2 for next level, which are fairly intense for short or overweight people, then 1 course that is quite challenging, and a 5th one that is only for experts. We went with a group of 8 people, ranging in age from 10 to 40. All of us had a great time, except for one of us who got "stuck" on one of the ropes apparatuses. She did finally get unstuck and finished her course, but decided not to do any more. You get 2 hours to get in as much tree action as you can. Most of us were able to do 3 courses within the 2 hours.
We come to Frankenmuth often with our kids, but this was our first time here. Worker were great with us and our kids, very patient and helpful. Courses went from easy to challenging. Wonderful time overall for our family!!
We stopped by Saturday at 7pm to take advantage of the night climbing posted on their website. It shows they are open till 10PM. WRONG! We were told that they had just changed hours that week - hadn't updated the webesite - and closed at 8pm. We didnt' stay to climb.
We were looking for something close to home but fun. Since Frankenmuth was only an hour away we planned a weekend getaway there. Our 4 year old was too small to participate, but my husband and daughters (11-12) had a blast!
I have been to Frankenmuth many times but never ventured into the Adventure Park. This time my husband and I tried it. Some words of wisdom: book early as it gets crowded quickly, bring your own pair of leather gloves ( the ones they provide are fingerless and your fingertips get sore) and don't get overly confident after completing the two green courses. My husband and I are in or mid thirties and quite active and the blue course needed our full mind and body focus. We did not attempt the black course after. Overall I would highly recommend this ropes course. P.S. it is more of a ropes course with minimal zip lining.
My husband & I made reservations for a "date night" to try something different. We had a great time (& a great workout)! Just a couple of downfalls. We made reservations online & chose 7:45 pm on a Saturday night. I was called that morning & was told there was a glitch in the system & they don't take reservations that late & if we could come @ 5:30, which was fine. Certain times there was alot of other climbers, others it started to slow down. There was a sudden rush of people coming in for "last call" & as we were in line for the blue colored course, one of the staff that was on the main platform that I thought was supposed to monitoring/keeping a lookout was basically talking/flirting with one of the people in front of us & not paying attention to all these last call people were coming up the main stairs unsure what they were supposed to be doing, & some didn't realize they had to hook up their harness to the cable to come up so they just walked on up. Luckily no one fell through, as the main stairs are not traditional stairs; they are logs with large gaps behind, so if someone lost balance & wasn't connected to the cable on the side with their harness, they could have gotten hurt by falling or tripping. The 2nd obstacle in on the blue course was very challenging, & I ended up with quite a bruise/skin irritation just to hold myself from falling under my R arm. Didn't get a chance to attempt the black course (hardest). We waited so long to get going on the blue course due to how much of an issue people had getting passed the 2nd obstacle on this course.
I found out about this attraction out of pure luck. We did not know what to expect until we got there, turns out it is a great way to spend a few hours. We are not sporty, or too fit, but we managed to do a few courses. The staff is nice and helpful. The place could use more than one restroom, though, and if the gloves had the full fingers would be better. The kids LOVED it.Great idea ! And maybe some lockers. We will go back for sure.
We had a great time. I would like to thank all of the staff at The Adventure Park, everyone was kind, helpful and very patient with the kids. We will be back next year for sure.
