I thoroughly enjoyed paddling a canoe with a large group from my church. The canoe rental process went smoothly. It is a somewhat long walk from the rental building to the actual put-in spot. If it has rained recently, this walk will be muddy. Fortunately, the rental operators bring the canoes down to the river for the paddlers.
We stayed in Fayettevile, and took a short drive over to Elk River Canoe Rental, Kelso, Tennesse, It was awesome, the staff was so friendly. The River was beautiful, a class 1 float. We will return!
must sing old man river while on the deep water, one of the best things to do in the area other than eating a poolroom hamburger or slaw burger, A MUST to eat.
we use Elk River Canoe Rentals each year for the past several years in a row and have received great service each time. try the all day float it is great.
Myhusband and I had dinner there one night and it was very good. Service was good and so was the food. WE were in and out in a very appoprant time. We will go back/
went on my 30 th b-day and had a blast.this is the place that stress is not allowed, come with an open mind and enjoy the ride. i love every minute of it.
Love this place, used to go all the time, haven't been in a while because new SO can't swim. Shallow calm water, many places to stop off, great scenery!
We have seen a lot of good fun and good people here. The river always has people flowing down it, several areas to stop and admire. All around a beautiful area that is a must see.
I internet searched canoe rentals outta Huntsville AL and this came up as 45 minutes away. It was a little longer than that but not an unpleasant drive as we weaved our way through tornado country to the parking lot adjacent their campground. Looks like the storms hit hard by all the torn apart trees, the weather was just perfect this Saturday before Memorial Day. I was a little irritated that no one returned my e-mails but I found the place to be very low tech upon arrival so I forgave them quickly. We waited in line for a good 30 minutes but once we paid we were soon on a van full of other folks getting dropped off with canoe rentals at Shiloh Bridge. Our trip was over an hour and cost about $17 a head, great for beginners. There was a bit of a bottleneck at the canoe launch site since it appears to be where half the state comes to put in their boats but it just added to the experience. The waters are slow and everything was super safe. We will be returning for sure. These guys could definitely improve their business some but they don't have to, demand is much greater than supply....at least today.
The Elk River is clear and good for boating, not too rapid, just a smoothride,on a sunny afternoon.
