Went here on a cloudy gray day with 4 kids ages 7 to 17. We were looking for a way to inspire their creativity, and I have to say that we found it! The barn is beautiful and exudes a positive, creative energy immediately upon entering. There are so many different possibilities to choose from, it takes several minutes to decide where you want to start. No previous experience was required for most of the activities. The kids decided to paint ceramics and the results were fantastic and they were so proud of their creations. My husband decided to paint a teapot and I made a mosaic plant stand. There is an $8 studio fee per person and the prices for the projects are marked on the items. If you are doing a mosaic, the prices of the pieces are marked on the containers.Tip: if you paint ceramics, they will not be ready immediately for pick up. If you are staying in the area, go here when you have a day or two left in your stay, so that you have time to pick them up. They can mail them to you, but if you can save on the mailing costs and see your finished masterpieces, so much the better!!
It was fun to work on a project there, but the staff seemed less than thrilled to be working. Choices were nice and prices reasonable.
The Art Barn is an arts and crafts store, allowing for a mix of art projects to be completed. The sheer volume and variety of projects available can be a bit overwhelming- you can truly find almost anything too create. You can pic a ceramics, tile, glass or mosaic project, selecting your base, you colors and accessories then put them together. It's an enjoyably fun family, even my teenage daughter enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey if you're not careful and you do have to plan when to go, as some of the projects require you to pick them up the next day. The owners who run the place are extremely helpful and cheerful. It can be pretty packed and tight if the weather is bad. Overall, a really fun place to visit with kids aged from say 5-16 (if they like artsy stuff)
I went here a couple of summers ago and loved it! There was a huge selection of projects and it was nice, relaxing, creative time to spend with others. Some projects were a little pricey, but some were very reasonable. I'll go back!Does anyone know of any other places like this in other areas? I live in west central Ohio and would be willing to drive a couple of hours up to 5-6 to visit a different place...but I'd love to include a place like this in the trip!
I visited Express Yourself Art Barn last week while on vacation with my spouse and 14 year old niece. The owner was very helpful and gave us a brief tour of the place and instructions on what is available. The selection of choices was incredible and there are projects available for every skill level and interest. It is a very relaxing experience and I thought the prices were fair for two hours of creative expression and fun. My niece and I chose to make clocks and I will treasure the memories created and time spent with her every time I look at my clock.
Anyone who has an interest in creating art should experience the Art Barn. It is a wonderful place where the options are limitless. It feels cozy and welcoming from the second you step on the property until you leave. Can't wait to come back.
Recently took the trip, had a nice day, plenty of different projects in many different cost ranges. Picked two projects that didn't look big but turned out to be $30 each. Also asked to have the pieces shipped for the extra $12 fee. With the studio fee it totaled $91.00 for 2 projects so it turned out to be pricey (but we could have done less expensive projects) The reason for the average rating is that we were told that pieces would be ready the next day, we are still waiting for them over a week later. When I called to let them know I had not rec'd my pieces I was told they were very busy and didn't have time to ship items that they have already been paid for.
This place was wonderful. I never knew that I was so artistic. There were so many choices. I settled on a mosaic tray, and it turned out beautiful. Keep in mind that most items will require a "sleepover" for finishing. We took our item home and grouted it ourselves. The customer service is good. This is a facility that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Took my kids there for a few hours to make pottery. A very large selection, good ideas to copy, and great customer service. Watch out, there is no air conditioning
I took my wife and two boys there and it was a lot more fun that I thought it would be. The boys loved choosing and painting their creations. I made a mug with the boys and my wife made a stepping stone with all of our help. The day wasn't cheap by any means ~$100 for four pieces of crafts but it was a good time. I would recommend doing multiple art projects while you are their as you pay for the materials for each project and then an art fee of $8 per person for the day. I would like to see more assistance given before the art project is started. There isn't really any instruction except pick out your piece and 3 colors. I wanted a certain effect on my mug and asked about it but they told me it wouldn't work because of my color choices. I really think there needs to be more staff there especially to help you start out your project.
