Full of monuments to famous Glaswegians (and Scots!).Look out for the sign over the arch which says "trusteth in Cod". Slight fishy error!
Went for a walk to the top of the necropolis. Simply amazing. A wonderful view of the city and the cathedral. Beautiful, historical, experience. And right next door to a verra nice brewery. A good morning would be Glasgow cathedral, cathedral house across the street, then to the necropolis just a minutes walk away, and then to the brewery.
What an amazing place to visit. The tombstones were amazing and it was interesting to read about the merchants and people of Glasgow. There is a fantastic view of the cathedral and the city from the top.
A visit to a graveyard may not seem at first like a good day outBut if you have any interest in history , architecture or just keeping fit then this may be the place to goBuilt in 1833 it has become the final resting place to many of Glasgow's "great and the good"From a simple gravestone to magnificent mausoleums the site holds many constructions worth seeing all in a traffic free peaceful location of Glasgow
Absolutely brilliant and easy to access. It's a good place to see the heritage of Glasgow and a beautiful contrast between the past (the Cathedral) and the present (the city centre). Special place.
This is well worth a visit if you're in Glasgow. The sheer size is amazing, and it's very interesting to look at all the tombs. I even found the tomb of the author of Wee Willie Winkie :)
A must see in Glasgow. Atmospheric glimpse into a very different (yet relatively recent) era when the acquisition of wealth was flaunted even in death.Don't miss the spectacular view of the Necropolis from top floor of the neighbouring museum.
Great outdoor experience, especially if you are interested in graveyards. Give it a try on a typical, sunny Scottish day :)
you should go there on an overcast day, it certainly has got atmosphere and you get great views over the city
Great history to see here and good views of the city and cathedral. I had a interesting time here. The cathedral and the necropolis are must visit in Glasgow.
