The food is average ski cafeteria food. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Ski runs are interesting for the southern half of lower Michigan. Nicely groomed. All the lifts were running.
This is our local resort. Our kids learned to ski here, now they can ski off by them selves. Good family fun, nice owners, easy skiing. As long as there is snow, you should have a good time. Just don't expect long, steep runs or deep powder!
Timber Ridge has been around a very long time and has been passed along from brother to brother and now onto children and grandchildren. However with all the passing around some over sight has accured in updating equipment and remodeling. This place could use some renovations and a owner that can see the big picture that a ski resort caters to not only people who ski but to the snowboarders too. To charge a price for admission you need offer more then just a hill to slide down.Take a look at surrounding resorts that are the competitors and take notice, when a resort makes money then put some money back into the buisness to update and attract more customers. The busiest part of this resort seemed to be the bar and that's okay if you like to spend time there while the kids are on the hill, just remember someone has to drive home.
Not a great challange, lots of fun and great people run the place.
I have gone to timber ridge for years and have always enjoyed their slopes. The last trip I brought along my kids 5, 7, 12 to work on their snowboarding. While I was in the lodge taking a break my 7 year old daughter wanted to stay out and ride the bunny slope with a rope tow. She fell in the middle of the hill and this particular rope drags on the ground halfway up the hill due to poor grading of the land and lack of tension in the rope. When my daughter went down the rope caught her binding; dragging her up the hill. The guy that's at the top keeping an eye on the slopes didn't see her until she got all the way to the top of the hill hanging upside down about to go through the giant flywheel at the top. My daughter was able to wiggle herself free before the operator ever stop the lift. Her board still had the boot in the binding, and she fell about 8 ft. to the ground. She wouldn't ride anymore. The same thing happened to my 5 year old son later that day, but my wife was there to hit the stop button right away. That lift should not be in operation. It has been like that for years, I never imagined how dangerous it was.
Nothing around the area is actually too great. Better than some, worse than some. It's fun enough for an afternoon, but sure isn't a place to go out of your way to ski. Being close though has advantages.
Good place for learning sking or snowboarding. Thats the reason we see a lot of kids with parents around. The bar/restaurant there is good. Good food price, live music and excelent beer.
For a small ski resort it has a variety of trails from easy to difficult. Nice looking lodge. Snow can be icy in this area though.
Very family friendly ski resort in Southwest Michigan, very close to Gobles. They also have a tubing hill for young children which is an hourly charge. I also like the lodge which has a friendly staff.
Timber Ridge is a great local ski resort that caters to families and provides exceptional service. Slopes are well groomed and maintained.
