This place is incredibly tacky, it's like they have purchased the entire back catalogue of Avon cat ornaments. In saying that our kids liked it, the gift shop was cool for cat lovers (which we are). If you are a cat lover with little kids and have time, it's OK, otherwise, probably not!
Lots of interesting history about Cats! Enjoyed reading about how cats made history at different eras in the past and how they are still impacting people's lives! Mmmm... thought that the Garfield cushions and cat food were a little out of place... but they are about cats... =DOverall, interesting!! Thanks!
It was raining non stop that morning and it prevented us from doing other great outdoor activities. So we decided to visit the cat museum because it was nearer to our original place of interest while waiting for the rain to stop. It was more like a personal collection of items that have everything and anything to do with cats! Be it a pillow case, a vase or a statue. Don't expect to find a real cat here or else you will get dissappointed. Please take as many pictures as you want but you need to pay RM 4 to bring in your camera though. That is the only thing that you can do here! Otherwise entrance is free for all.
Notice: If you take the bus from Jalan Masjid (downtown), you will have to cross a busy street and hike a 20m high hill worth of switchback road. It is hard to put into words what I saw at this museum. Suffice it to say that there are some things you cannot unsee. That being said, I do recommend this to anyone with the extra time in Kuching. Don't pass up a trip to Bako or Semenggoh, but if you're looking to kill time on a rainy day, definitely go and spend the few RM to take photos.
由于古晋很在乎市容所以街上都很少能看见野猫野狗。这猫博物馆里就有很多不同的猫。(当然不是活的=.=)进去参观一下 会更了解猫哦!可以学到关于猫的知识。
Wow! One of a kind museum dedicated to cat. All type of things you need to know and to understand about cat are all in here. There's no entry fee but there is a fee for taking photos inside. RM 3 for handphone and RM 4 for digital camera
good place to buy some souvenirs, just a place to visit if you are in Kuching. interesting history of Kuching also been told here
Definitely for cat lovers otherwise you'd be as bored as we would be in a dog museum!Everything you wanted to know about cats but didn't know who to ask.Impressively set up and an incredible number of cat related things. The 'story boards' were very informative and we managed to spend 1 1/2 hours reading and exploring the exhibits. Some odd exhibits too like tins of Whiskers!Since there was a cafe in the building what really would have been a great addition would have been a Cat Cafe with real cats to play with.Entry is free but you pay a minimal fee for cameras. We paid RM50 for return journey in cab including waiting time.
Entrance is free BUT you will have to pay RM10 per handphoe. You can take photos for free inside the museum. There is no live cats there. Just replicas and photos which can be quite interesting to see. There are souvenirs which you can buy near the entrance.
Nothing special but a good view to Kuching City from outside of the Cat Museum. Spent 45 minutes there on the way to the Sarawak Cultural Village.
