This nature park is like being at the Ponderosa in the old Bonanza series, minus the Cartwrights of course. There is hiking, the Jordan Pond to fish, plenty of picnicking tables and of course the little red barn in the summer. Old farming equipment from the past is stored there too. Fun and natural beauty is there for everyone....check it out
If you are looking for a great place to experience a beautiful peaceful place it is not very far. Nestled right in the Hayward hills is Garin Regional Park. It has a place for everyone here. You can hike, picnic, ride a bike, fly a kite, ride a horse or just kick back and enjoy the picture perfect scenery. If you are there for a picnic check out the pond. Hiking galore, walk the ridge and you will not believe the views. I HIGHLY recommend Garin you will not be disappointed. My favorite place to get in some physical activity so close to home.
Garin and Dry Creek on next to each other. We were on our way to Garin Regional Park when we saw an entrance to Dry Creek Park. I tried to find an address for Dry Creek but no luck. Dry Creek has free parking while Garin may charge $5 and $2 for your dog. We didn't have time to visit Garin Park after we spent a few hours at Dry Creek. It seems not many people visit Dry Creek Park but they are missing out. Once you leave the parking lot you walk up the driveway to the gate of Dry Creek Cottage Gardens, its open Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free. Once you walk though the gate you will see a two-acre garden with many flowers and plants you can see as you walk along pathways and cross over a couple of small bridges. There are places to sit along the way but the benches haven't been keep up. After we left the gardens we turn right then took a left at the fork and started walking up the trail that lead to a great view of the bay. We were looking for a pond but turn back because we just got worn out from the sun and walking up and up and up. There are a few hiking trails you can choose from. I would recommend using a bathroom before you come to the park they do have an out-house and I did use it. The garden and cottage is located at the end of May Road off Mission Boulevard in Hayward and the parking lot is open all week until dusk.
Scenery fantastic but make sure you bring your water. Always take my puggle for a hike there. She enjoys it a lot.
I live right over the hill from this park & I walk it at least 3x per week. It is well-maintained, and rangers try to stay out of the way, which is nice. Somehow it seems to attract mostly families and hikers. Thank goodness the dirt bags that like to raise hell & leave their garbage everywhere haven't yet discovered this park. Please don't tell any of them about it!!It is particularly nice in spring when hills are green & Jordan Pond is full of water.
Away from city life even though you are not that far from the city. I do not like that they charge for using the park if you have a car.
beautiful huge park.....cattle in parts ofit, you can take an easy walk, or do one over a lot of hills
Garin park is one of Hayward's Gems. It's a great place to walk your dogs and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
great trails into hayward hills for walking or biking ! picnic and playgrounds and also a creek runs through it great family location
I've been there several times over the years and always enjoyed the park for the picnicking etc, but recently learned of all the hiking trails that run through the park. Some of the views are great and with our almost always outdoor weather, even better!!
