This is such a great ride to and from Seldovia! They are on time and the crew is so helpful! I miss it in the winter......
If you're looking for a quick ride to Seldovia this ferry is great. Clean boat, friendly staff, plenty of room, and a fast ride with great views. What more can you ask for?
The passenger ferry is nearly new (4 years old) and offers a scenic, fast, and comfortable trip. Seldovia is fun to visit with its excellent museum, shops, eateries, eagles, beaches, old boardwalk, and quiet marina.
Do you want to get to Seldovia without flying or riding on a small vessel? Then the Seldovia Bay Ferry is the best choice for you. This catamaran style ship has an upper and lower deck, both that are enclosed with plenty of seating for the whole family. Keep your eyes out for marine life such as marine birds, sea otters, whales, and Doll-porpoise as you travel to and from Seldovia. The crew will make you feel welcome on board with warm smiles and complimentary tea and coffee. There are two on-board restrooms "heads" available. There is also outside seating available on a beautiful ride over. You can even bring your four-legged best friend with you! Very affordable at $38 each way and as a bonus to families of small children: kids 2 and under are free!
Incredibly fast! Beautiful views of the ocean, Homer and Seldovia. The crew were great and rather comical, dancing the "Whale Dance" on the bow to attract the whales, (didn't work this time). The ferry cut through the waves like butter.
Nice Day, great boat ride from homer to Seldovia. Arrived about noon, stayed 4.5 hours. Hiked trails, picked up beach glass, visited shops just had fun. Ride home was sunny and we saw a lot of sea otters and a few whales. Great day, nice crew, clean facilities
When we go to Seldovia we usually use the ferry at least one way. Clean and a dependable schedule. Not crowded plus free coffee. Parking is free right by the dock.
The vessel looks brand new, and reservations aren't required (we used a TourSaver coupon). Complimentary coffee and tea are available. The captain and crew were adept at spotting marine life and the captain was quite gracious about stopping so we could oooh and aaaah over the sights. During our round trip we saw both humpback and orca whales, as well as porpoises. The ferry was a bit hard to find and we went to the wrong ferry terminal first. There is no sign for the Seldovia Bay Ferry on the main road on the spit. You need to turn onto Freight Dock Road. There is one run to Seldovia and one run back about 4.5 hours later. That was way too much time in Seldovia for us, but we did enjoy the ferry ride.
Really enjoyed the trip on the ferry to Seldovia always nice wildlife to see. Nice way to see Seldovia and just spend the day at the shops and trails. If you can take the longer sightseeing trip it is worth it.
Used this ferry often. It's reliable, clean, safe and fast. The ferry will take you down the coast to Seldovia, a quiet, isolated village with a long history. The crew are great, especially the lovely Camille. They'll help with your gear and tell you what to see in Seldovia.
