Getting there was odd to say the least, this memorial is located in the middle of a parking lot. That being said, the memorial was exquisite. Beautiful black granite made the lettering really stand out.The eternal flame was beautiful but I could have done without the council member names on it, it is after all a memorial for Veterans and shouldn't be used as an advertisement.
Worth a stop to see and take family for remembering on veteran's day or my dad's birthday. USAF veteran served in Vietnam, Korea, etc.
Awesome memorial, great location, needs more signs so people visiting games, concerts will know it's there.
The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial displays the names of members of our Armed Forces who gave up their lives to serve our Country. It is very moving, the eternal fire is very striking.
I have visited this memorial several times and also the memorials in Washington DC. Always a somber experience to this Vietnam vet. Mr. Moore deserves a lot of credit for bringing the Jacksonville memorial to reality.
The memorial is located by the football stadium. Thankfully with GPS we were able to find it. Very nice memorial for those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedoms.
Always a moving tribute to see those who have served and given their lives for our freedom. It was surprising to see how many names there are just in this one county. Thanks for the nice tribute and excellent maintenance of the site. Worth 30-60 minutes to reflect upon our good fortune as americans.
This memorial is set in front of the football stadium in Jacksonville. Easy to access - except on game day - it is an impressive black granite structure. Good tribute and worth spending a short while there while in the area.
The group we were with on a recent stay in Jacksonville, had, as one of its activities, a bus tour of Jacksonville. Since our group consisted of veterans(WW2 through Vietnam), we were taken to this wall. Our tour guides were knowledgeable about the history of the creation of the wall, as well as some of the names on the wall. Our Vietnam veterans especially appreciated the time there. Those who had children or grandchildren who had served in recent years or were still active duty also appreciated the scope of this wall. Right next to the Jaguars stadium, there is no reason not to stop here and reflect on those who served their country and paid the ultimate price.
Was a very odd place for this to be. It is in the parking lot of the Jacksonville jaguars stadium. Other than that is was a great tribute to all the men and women of Duval county that have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Thank you
