Great outdoor place to skate. Warm shack for putting your skates on. Large and well maintained. Not crowded on our Saturday afternoon visit in late February
I love the groomed x country ski trails in winter. Sorry- no skate skiing. The 15 km of trails are a nice bonus, and the only groomed trails in the area.
Wagon ride into the sugar bush to see maple syrup being made and then tasting it on fresh made pancakes. Wonderful family trip. Kids love it!!
I rally enjoyed the trails. I am really glad I got a chance to see the sugar shack....now I have to go back in the winter!
Love this place so close to Kingston! You can walk, bike, ski, skate, bird watch... it is all such a lovely experience!
If you want to escape this city, this is a wonderful place to visit. I enjoy hiking along the trails and looking at the wildlife and nature. The place is usually not crowded so that is an added bonus. I will continue to visit this hidden gem.
Visited Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area this weekend for their Maple season activities. The place is very well-run and maintained. We've been here in mid-summer and late winter/early spring.Trails are well-maintained and the grades are easy for walking or skiing. When you're wandering through the woods , it's easy to forget that you're such a short distance from the busy city.I guess that's the whole point ?
Seasonal activities year-round--maple syrup making, X-country skiing, skating, hiking, bird watching. I used to train my retrievers in the ponds. Bright, spacious rustic, interpretive center, knowledgeable staff. In the winter, chickadees will eat from your hand.. Great for families.
I do love coming here so so so much! wonderful place to take peaceful walks and just enjoy the fresh air without the car noise or worrying that you are gonna get run over!
We took a weekend trip to Kingston and one of the highlights was an afternoon visit to this Conservation area. It was a peaceful autumn walk along well marked paths through marsh and woodland. It is a beautiful and clean park and appropriate trails for all walking/hiking abilities - not at all strenuous. The most unique part of this experience was feeding wild chickadees and nuthatches by hand. We simply stood with palms up and the birds would follow you through the trees, swop down and land in our hands, grab a sunflower seed and fly off. The seeds can be purchased at the conservatory so you don't have to supply your own! Overall, a nice, peaceful family oriented afternoon at the conservatory.
