Wonderful chilled atmosphere for climbers of all ages and abilities. It can get very busy in the evenings so you may have to wait in the bouldering area for a free wall (but that allows your arms to recover!) Very friendly staff and lovely little cafe with good coffee and cake!
Took my 7yr old son here last week and ended up climbing with him. There were a few initial moments of nerves seeing people climbing practically across the ceiling, which disappeared when we realised thankfully that wouldn't be us! We started on a ground level warm up wall and progressed to sloping walls, vertical walls and walls with overhangs (which were more challenging) - in total we did about 6 climbs each in a group of 4 for the great value 90 minute session (only £12).The staff were very knowledgeable, experienced and confident - which helps with your trust when they're lowering you down from the top of a vertical wall climb. The instructor was excellent and very patient with my son, and although he was quite nervous, he wasn't made to feel bad and was encouraged to go up as far as he wanted and gently encouraged throughout each climb to go further and further. By the end he loved it - so much so he's signed up for the kids climbing course next half term. We are going again as a family this weekend as it was very good fun, with a bit of adrenaline for good measure! If you've never tried climbing before, Boulders is definitely a place to recommend as they put you at ease and you end up having a very good afternoon out. There is also a cafe with refreshments at the site, which is great because you do need something to bring your energy levels back up when you finish the session.
Great place for everyone, from experienced climbers to those who just want to try for the first time. Plenty of routes and facilities, friendly instructors, great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.
I came down whilst in work for people in supported living. We all had a brilliant time, I love how it's accessable for everyone
Me and a friend booked onto the taster session on 17 February 2015. There were 6 people in the group all together with 2 instructors and we worked in teams of 3. My instructor Nigel was an absolute Star he made it so fun and easy and shared his experiences. We managed to get 6 climbs in during the 90minutes we were there. We had such a fantastic time was much better than I expected and although I thought it would be a one off experience I can't wait to come again for my birthday and bring some there friends along too to show them how fun it is. Thank you so much!!
I took my wife and 2 children (6 and 12) as a surprise. We had never tried climbing before but the welcome when we arrived was brilliant. The atmosphere was buzzing! We were in a group of just 6 with 1 instructor (Jason)Jason explained everything really well and gave us all the confidence and encouragement we needed to reach the top of the wall. Our session lasted 90 minutes or so and by that time we were worn out!Thoroughly enjoyable visit with nothing bad to say at all.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a go. I hate heights and thought I would do this to get over my fear. I am a 45 year old female that went on her own.The staff were really nice and helpful. My instructor Dan was fantastic and made me feel so relaxed. In the hour and half he had me climbing the walls I really enjoyed it and cant wait to have another go. I can't thank him enough as he provided me with the confidence and encouragement I needed. Thank you so much
We took our two children for a climb today as it was my sons 8th birthday. He was a little nervous but fortunately they were with an excellent instructor, Rhys, who was brilliant with the kids! He really gave them confidence and the enthusiasm to want to go back again! It's an amazing place with a really great energy and the fact that we were lucky enough to have such a great instructor with our children just made the whole experience more enjoyable. The little cafe is great with friendly staff taking the time to ask the children if they'd had fun which was appreciated. I would have given Boulders 5 stars but for the toilet situation where both sexes use the same facilities. My 11 year old daughter said she was chatting to a man whilst she was washing her hands. They had apparently been in cubicles next to each other and had come out the same time! It was only then I went to have a look at the layout. I do think parents should be advised of the shared facilities when they go in so they can decide if their child needs accompanying or better still, change the facilities altogether.Other than this, it was a really enjoyable day and we'll definitely take the kids back!
My three children all visited when they were primary school age. Now that they are teenagers, there is less of an attraction - or least, that's what I thought - then the youngest got to go on a course through his school. There are clubs on evenings and weekends - and I can't help thinking that some of the skills could come in useful later on. Particularly good if your teens don't do ball games...
This is a place buzzing with energy and adrenalin with climbers everywhere but also it is great for sitting and watching ( learning or admiring) and having lovely tea/coffee and cakes.
