Henderson Castle is a historic landmark that for years was relatively neglected. The current owners have done a ver good job of renovating it to bring out its natural charm. Our room was large, spacious and nicely appointed. We had some minor issues with the A/C but they were quickly addressed. The view was nice from on top of the hill and the grounds are lovely as well.
We went to the Henderson Castle back in January 2013 and stayed in the Tibetan room. While they offered dinner in the evening, we chose to go out. The breakfast we had in the morning however, was delicious. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to tour the castle on our own. While there is a history of 'hauntings' at the castle, our stay was ghost-free and very enjoyable. We had hoped to use the hot tub on the roof but didn't find the time to do so. We hope to return soon for one of their Murder Mystery Dinner events! If you're looking for a different, historic bed and breakfast, this is certainly the one to visit!
The castle is amazing!! Beautiful hilltop views overlooking Kalamazoo. Which is full of great festivals and a beer lovers paradise. However, you may not want to leave Henderson Castle one you check in. We have stayed twice, been to two charity dinners, enjoyed the release of their great wine on the porch and have wandered through the apple and pear orchard with our kids just for fun. The rooms are each unique with a story behind each one. Owner Chef francois will happily tell you about all the amazing things on the tour you'll get. The price to stay was so affordable considering the room, the service, dinner and spa options, the rooftop hot tub and the most amazing Chef prepared French toast you could imagine. This is pretty perfect for a romantic getaway, family fun night or even an overnight business trip stay.
We are moving to another city and it was our last dinner at Henderson Castle for a while. Francious and his staff made it extra special with his personal service and culinary expertise. We will talk about that night for the rest of our lives!
I loved staying at the castle! We stayed in the French Room for 3 nights and had the complimentary breakfast which was great and filling! Staff were super nice and had great recommendations for things to do around town! The castle is rich with history! One of the best stay-cation's I've had! I have no complaints!
The Castle is everything you envision: spectacular woodwork, stunning rooms and food with a French Flair. The French Chef and owner, Francois, is charming and welcoming. The guest rooms are original and stunning. Want a romantic weekend? This is your place.
We went on the architectural tour and wine tasting VIP and even pay a visit to Late Mr F,Henderson. Very cool and very informative
We did the 11 course meal, and some of the courses were good. But 2 were completely raw. Raw frogs legs are no bueno. I was married at the Henderson castle, and so it is always fun to go back. It is a beautiful home, great ambiance. The owner is kind of gross. I heard from someone who worked there that there are few prostitutes that operate out of the back cottages, which is kind of alarming.
Was Driving by so stopped to take pictures. Have been here once before for my husband company dinner. The ceilings are awesome! All hand painted murals. They are open Noon to 4pm call for reservations.
On a recent visit to Kalamazoo decided to take a tour of the castle. Tour was very informative and it was great that our guide was constantly researching the castle so he could learn more of the history. We went in all rooms and heard which owner contributed what to the castle. If you have difficulty walking around and climbing stairs it is probably not a tour to take. After the tour I participated in the wine tasting. There were 6 wines and some snacks to go with. We sat down at one of the dining tables for a leisurely tasting. I would love to go back for a lunch or dinner I the future.
