Nice little stroll along beach with beachy shops and eateries. A good place to stroll on a not-so-sunny day. Be sure to stop and treat yourself to a hot donut at Britt's!
This isn't much of a boardwalk. If you are looking for a true beach boardwalk, or local treasure shops ( St. Augustine, FL) you probably need to go elsewhere. Get there, get your doughnut and head back to the beach.
Not much to see or do as half of the boardwoal had been burnt down in a recent fire. The few place not impacted by the fire were closed for the season - unless it was a bar.
You never even have to leave, if you get a room close by. Lots of restaurants, bars, music, and beach shopping. And not too crowded!
If you have ever been to a real boardwalk - say in NJ or Maryland - don't bother with this concrete block with an old arcade and a few old rides. The beach itself is lovely but the boardwalk was a BOREDwalk.
people, ocean, beach, shops, food, rides were all great. fireworks on thrusday nite were fabulous. party boot lots of fun. weather was great also while there.
Very old and somewhat run down! Went for purpose of acquiring Brits Donuts and they were closed. Not much else there!
This "Boardwalk" is a dilapidated collection of odd buildings populated by individuals who appear to be either out of work or otherwise disengaged from reality. Many of the businesses were closed, Britt's donuts was not open and the primarily younger people who were there appeared to be focused on drinking, smoking, swearing, spitting and loitering. We saw a lot of trash (i.e. empty drink cups). The rides were not working so there was nothing to entice families to visit this area.We would never return to this "Boardwalk" and recommend that others approach it with the understanding that this is not in any way similar to Myrtle Beach, Rehobeth Beach or any other interesting beach walk. You cannot even see the ocean from this area.
Boardwalk and attractions at Carolina Beach are family friendly. My wife and 2 boys had a great time; however, we discovered quickly that smack dab in the middle of the amusement rides is a sewer lift station. Not a big deal -- unless you were downwind!
Don't miss the Boardwalk while in Carolina Beach. Just a fun place to hang out, nightly events during the summer, an the town does a great job. Fireworks on Thursday, and so much more. Great little gift shops, fun munchies, and never miss Britts Donuts!!
