I was impress by the way the emeraulds are cut and it's a very good place to buyone if you wish to. I love my ring thank you to all the persons there for making me more informed about emeralds.
Wonderful place..extremely interesting tour...very knowledgeable staff. I bought a gorgeous ring which they sized immediately. Very satisfied.
It was a wonderful experience touring the museum and purchasing emeralds. Salesperson was most helpful. I would definitely shop there again if traveling to Cartagena.
Always visited Caribe when in Cartagena, bought various items over the years and again this year February while on a cruise. Also repaired a link in daughters bracelet under the life time guarantee. Great value and very nice people not too pushy as well.
Very personal service from Maria made this an interesting visit for both parents and our 7 year old. Enjoyed the emerald museum there, and they have plenty of beautiful emerald jewelry for sale at various price levels.
The "museum" part is interesting, but beware that Colombians seem to use the word museum as a marketing ploy to get you into their retail shop. That being said, this joyeria (jewelry store) had an excellent "museum"'that is very informative about emeralds and they do have the most incredible displays that are worth seeing. Beware that in Cartagena, emerald prices are much higher admit is more touristy, so if you happen to be traveling to bogota, it is a better bet to head to la candeleria to purchase emeralds...just keep a much tighter grip on your walker as crime in bogota is much higher than in Cartagena.
I'm not into cut/polished/faceted jewels; but Maria Eugenia Zuniga helped me find the ideal "raw" emerald earrings and then a pendant that matched perfectly. All my friends and family raved about my Facebook post. Ask for her by name and you won't be disappointed.
That was a very interesting tour through the Museum and factory. The most beautiful emeralds are from Colombia a must see if you go to Cartagena.
We visited the museum and factory as part of a cruise ship excursion. First we went to a school to teach under privileged students how to make jewelery and polish and set emeralds. We continued to the museum and factory where some of the employees were graduates of the school working at the jewelery benches. The tour of the museum with it's mock emerald mine made us feel as if we had visited a real mine. It was fascinating. Finally, the jewelery that was made in the factory and is on display is gorgeous and glittery. They negotiate on prices, so don't pay what is on the ticket! I bought 60 carat emerald earrings at a fourth what I would have paid in the States.
We have been at the main location before. This time we were in the smaller location in the center of the walled city. There is a much bigger selection at the main location.I think, you can get some good quality jewelry there and of course you have to work on the price. That is the most fun of it.I have the fun, the wife gets the stuff...ha-ha.
