we biked from Klaipeda to Nida and it was really beautiful. They have a separate bike route and it passes through a national park. Can't describe how beautiful it was when butterflies are going past your face as you ride.
Curonian Spit is a beautiful and unique piece of nature. It has everything, forests, dunes, beaches and the sea. We visited in February and it was not very busy, I can't say if it is crowded in the summer season. When you drive from Kaliningrad, you enter the split from Zelenogradsk (Зеленогра́дск) and will see a barrier with a small office after a couple of kilometers. Here you pay 300 RUB and can enter the national park. We are Dutch and received a German brochure so I expect they have them in English too.During the winter season there were some Dixi toilets at the parking lots but they were very dirty. We drove all the way to the Ephas Höhe stop on kilometer 42,2. Here you can walk to the sea on both sides, very beautiful views. If you are in Kaliningrad or Lithuania and love nature, make sure you visit the Curonian Spit.
Spent 6 hours driving around this very attractive area. we were off season- but were able to enjoy a brilliant show art the Dolphinarium, to wander round n old a fisherman's farmstead and to look over some fishing trawlers. We visited Nida- a pretty place with lots of cafes and drove rto the border with Kalimngrad.
I had the most Amazing time in the Curonian Spit and Nuja. Beautiful Sand dunes, cool funky towns. Gorgeous beaches. Swimming in the Sea, buying smoked fish from houses. Fun Jellyfish inspired joking around. Wonderful Lithuanian friends and food. We stayed in a cool Holiday home right on the Sea, Amazing view and cool room. Doing lots of Yoga and Meditation in this place. Peaceful, Restful and Joyous. Altho I was there after the Summer Tourist Season in August. I recommend this time of year to go -D
This is a unique UNESCO site and well worth a visit, especially if you are into hiking or skiing in the winter. Come prepared for extremes in weather. It can get very busy during the summer months.
This had to be one of the best places we have visited in all our travel. Beautiful beaches, sand dunes that were created millions of years back, trekking trails...this is not to be missed if you love nature and trekking. We stayed at Klaipeda and took the ferry to travel to Nida. We visited this twice because one day is not enough and you just feel like going back. There are places to stay in Nida. Klaipeda has ferry connections and from there you can take a bus or a cab. Cabs take around 80 Lithuanian Litas. You can stop in between if you want to take photographs. At Nida first bus stop there is tourism info center. You should not miss the witches trail. lots of places to eat and please take jackets etc..the weather can be inclement.
What a perfect day trip. We took the ferry at 9:30 and hiked and drove the roads, had smoked fish for lunch and did some great hikes. Not many people and if I had a little more time I would have biked the trail but we were unsure of the weather. It was the highlight of our 5 day stay in Lithuania.
A preserved area of Natural coastline bordered on one side by the gulf and the other by the Baltic Sea. Excellent unspoiled beaches for walking or sunbathing in the dunes in season of course
Amazing time for those who missess quite, rest, wildeness, feeling free. It is good be be alone, to walk with friends or family. Each time new experience... Try it!
