Absolutely amazing construction, beautiful art work. I got there via one of the boats. A great way to spend a 3-4 hours one afternoon.
The cruise from Kelheim to Weltenburg is 40 minutes upstream to explore the 400-foot chalk cliffs and dramatic scenery of the Danube Narrows. The river cuts a pass through the mountains, which is one of the most beautiful section of Danube River. The cruise ends at Weltenburg Abbey, founded at the beginning of the 7th century, one of Germany’s oldest monasteries.
Some people love the offered food and drinks at the Weltenburg Monastry before they are looking for their tent at the other bank of the river - I hope you dont! It´s not to be "schön blau in der Donau" but "schöne blaue Donau"!
We took a boat from Weltenburg to Kelheim. It was possible to take our bicycles on board (extra fee) which was very convenient. The cruise was pretty short and a bit pricey. But because the views were really wonderful I would not hesitate to make the tour again or recommend it to anyone.
took the ferry cruise from Weltenberg to Kelheim to meet up with our coach. Magnificent scenery, great commentary, nice drinks etc. Scenery is Spectacular
