Very nice to see & tour around. Have never camped there. Just have a remembrance of a private family service.
Very beautiful lot's of fun for the kids. Hiking biking, and the prettest camping sites around. There are very beautiful water falls and sight seeing trails. The camp grounds are cleane and well kept.
the site is nice. The campsite is right beside from the river and also isolated by the tree. I try to fish but totally need to go with local next time
The fam and I decided to drive to Rushing River from Kenora for a picnic. The campground was closed so we pulled into the picnic area. The kids really enjoyed the wading into the current of the river and running across the bridges. What a wonderful place to visit. The canadian shiled is so beautiful. Highly recommended to anyone in the area or just passing through.
Recently went with friends to Rushing River...camped on the north side, site #236...amazing site! Great view, right on the rocks and the river, with our own 'beach' so we could swim right off our campsite. Canoe and kayak rentals readily available. (this site is next to dock, which made it even easier!) Lots of 'outhouse' bathrooms throughout the campground, but a five minute walk from our campsite took us to a great indoor bathroom, complete with showers. Campground is very well organized and staff very friendly. Not a party place, however...expect the warden over pretty quick for any noise after 11pm, as we found out :) If you don't have time to camp overnight, it is still worth pulling into the park to spend an hour or two walking along the river to see the rapids; go into the river for a swim near the public beach area to cool off on a hot day. You can pay a low fee to enjoy the park for a short period of time. Very picturesque...a beautiful spot to enjoy the essence of wilderness in Ontario.
We have been walking and hiking Rushing River for almost 40 years. As we live fairly close, we do not camp but prefer to enjoy the park either before or after the camping season. This is a very beautiful Provincial park located along a picturesque river/waterfall that also provides access to a network of pristine lakes such as Dogtooth and Kilvert. Once the campground is closed for the season, you can still walk the park but you are expected to pay, guessing your length of stay, using a ticket dispenser. This I find rather sad given there are no services, not even toilet paper in the outhouses. Participaction and healthy lifestyles are what its all about, not nickle & diming people who simply want to enjoy Ontario's beautiful outdoors.
For some reason I had never made it to Rushing River before, even though it came highly recommended by friends and family. My companion and I were spending a couple of days in Kenora. She suggested we spend some time at the park, as she had enjoyed visiting in the past. We went for half a day. Which was a good choice, due to rain showers before and after our brief visit. It was about 1/2 an hour drive from our hotel. While we were there we had a pleasant picnic lunch beside the rapids, followed by a hike on a short, easy trail. There are lots of picnic tables all through the park, covered picnic area near the rapids, many excellent camping spots, toilets, beaches, showers and change rooms. Everything needed to make a short or long stay very pleasant.
The beauty of it depends on the level of rain over the year. Beautiful place to take pics.Love that it is a shirt drive from Kenora.
We loved this great well kept park.Neat water falls.Outstanding camp grounds.Park people great. If you like to tent camp this is the place.
We had camping spot 272. It was a great spot, it felt secluded (which is what we like), but was still an easy walk to the beach and North Side Nook (where you can rent kayaks, buy firewood, etc). The museum was fun, and the little activity/story time was presented very well. The outhouses were as well maintained as an outhouse can be :)
