I like peaceful temple envoirement and thoses prayers who come to temple in good behavorioal and treat people in good manners...the temple clean and respect the devotees.
one of the important temple in kochi to be visited. ancient belief of presence of devi. lot of people do visit often. temple opened almost full day except from noon to evening. some places not too clean.
The famous temple of Bhagavathy is situated around one hour distance from Ernakulam via Tripunithura by bus. There are two temples dedicated to Maa Durga. The temple at the Kizhkavu or bottom is dedicated to slightly Rowdra roopam and has guruthy in the late evenings to appease the boothagangal and it is here that in olden days people possessed with evil spirits are brought to be freed. There is a tree in that premises where one can see many nails struck into its trunk, supposed to be hit in by the forehead of the possessed. The deity at the melkavu or upper part is sowmya roopam. Here the godess is worshiped as Saraswathi, Lakshmi and Durga during the morning hours, ie. Early morning, morning and late morning. It is a famous stopover for people going and coming from Sabarimala.
No words can describe how amazing this temple , As a hindu a must visit temple, I spend 1 day there together with my wife and daughter and attend the all the poojas and most of all the guruthi pooja was so incredible full of vibration ,and will definitely come and visit Amma.,
Very divine and enthralling experience.Evenings are a good time to plan your visit here.Tuesdays and Fridays are auspicious days. Expect above average rush on these days.'Prasadams' include Naipaysam (Kheer) available in sealed cans, which is very tastey.Neat Veg hotels, affordable lodging fascilities and souvenir shops available in plenty.
we are visit the temple it was really nice to see the all gods and from fort cochin 20km to the temple .
The diety is very powerful and the poojas on Fridays are very special. The pilgrim should attand all the tree poojas- nirmallyam at 4.00AM'uchapooja at 10.00Am and Deeparadhana at 6.30PM. The guruthy at 9.30 PM at kizhukkave is very special
must visit temple. Chottanikkara Devi is worshipped in three different forms: as Saraswati in the morning, as Lakshmi at noon, and as Durga in the evening. And there is 'Guruthi Pooja' a ritual done at late evening to invoke the goddess in the 'Keezhkkaavu' temple.recently renovated with nadapanthal and gopuram. slightly over rushed during sabarimala and other festival seasons but well maintained by queue system. the temple is always clean. Men shouldn't wear shirts while enter the temple (both melkavu and Keezhkavu).I am also fond of the temple premises as we can hear so many devotional songs in all film songs tunes.
