A traditional cathedral with a rich history. The surrounding campus offers some nice walking paths with some sculptures.
The Sisters offer a free tour of the convent and the chapel and if you have any interest in history, the church, the Sisters, or the chapel, it is well worth the time. I learned so much about all of the above in our tour but what I found most fascinating was that the splendor and oppulence in the chapel is actually mostly faux finishes by master european artisans - amazing.
Take the tour. You won't regret it. One of the Sisters will give the tour, which is cool. The video is a little boring, but once you see the beauty of the chapel, you will be enthralled. Love the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. You can even leave a prayer request on your tour with the assurance that it will be lifted up for you. What a blessing.
My family and I went for a ride one rainy Sunday and decided to take a tour of St Rose of Viterbo Church. A very nice and informational sister came and gave us a tour of the grounds and church. She showed us all the beautiful statues and explained the different areas. They only give tours for a few hours each day so call ahead. It is free to the public
From the beautiful surroundings, to the prayful sisters, to the spiritual up lifting. It is a must visit for Catholics who would better understand the sisters mission.
Saint Rose Convent and the Chapel of Angels is recognized as one of the most beautiful in the United States. The chapel was dedicated in 1906 and since August 1st, 1878, at least two Franciscan Sisters have maintained a 24-hour prayer vigil for the Church, community and the world. It' is truly a Midwestern treasure.
We took a tour of the FSPA chapel when we were in Lacrosse. The sisters gave a tour and history. It was beautiful and definitely worth some time to take a look at. Their faith was inspiring!
The sisters at the convent are amazing in their lives and actions for others. The Maria Angelorum Chapel, besides being beautiful, has many nuggets presented in the tour--an incredible number of angel paintings/statues, to the marble that was shipped across the ocean at no cost as it was used as a balance on the ship in past times. The chapel behind this one, is the Perpetual Adoration Chapel which has had various sisters and prayer partners praying 135 years. It to is beautiful, but the peace and well-being upon entering is amazing in itself. I can't say enough. It is worth the trip if you are at all spiritual or even interested in craftsmanship. It's the second most visited place in Lacrosse after the Mississippi River.
Come pray in a chapel that is over 100 years old. Beautiful- one thinks they are in Europe. Check tour times before coming.
The architecture and frescos in this building make it a must see for residents of La Crosse. We have a gem in out town. I definetyl recommend this to those visiting our area...you will be impressed.
