Fun afternoon at the park nestled in the mountains! - great family experience. Very clean and definitely will go back. The lazy river is not huge but a nice little ride and the soak zone with the wave crashes is lots of fun
The kid had a great time in the park and the Soak zone is great even for the adults. The parks needs a little bit of sprucing up but overhaul nice.
Sorry, this place is pretty bad. Maybe i'm spoiled by visiting Disney parks but this place just doesn't cut it. Food service is poor with zero healthy options. In fact, for health reasons I'd probably only trust something fried anyway to avoid any type of gastrointestinal illness. The water park was also a joke. The park was full but only 50% of the slides were operational. Right before we arrived, a "guest" literally THREW UP in the wave pool (which was already SHOULDER TO SHOULDER") everyone had to evacuate. Gross.
Love this park, can't say enough about it. My husband brought is here and kids loves it.my husband used to go here when he was a child and the fact we can bring our children is wonderful. We go visit his parents every yr who live less than an hr away from the park. So we always take a trip here. Something for everyone. They have a nice area for the little ones. I love storybook forest where the characters come to life. There is always a different theme every summer.i just live going and spending time with our children there. Can't wait to go again. :)
This was a terrible experience! We visited Sunday 9/7/14 and it was like they purposely wanted to piss off parents. The ride operators moved so slowly it was unbelievable! Several rides were closed, they only filled the rides halfway up, they only had 1 food stand open...My husband stood in line for hotdogs and french fries for 45 min. The one roller coaster that was open only had 3 cars running. The log jammer had 3 cars running. The employees were cranky and miserable. I could go on and on...the only positive was Storybook Forest. My boys really enjoyed that. Save your sanity and make the extra trip to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster. We will not be back.
Visited this park for the first time recently as part of a road trip through PA. When I saw the ticket prices, I almost decided to skip it as there was really only a couple of things I wanted to do there. But given that I didn't know when I may be passing by again, I decided to go for it and was able to get a decently-discounted ticket through the local county tourism bureau. One of the highlights of Idlewild is the Storybook Forest. A long winding trail that takes you through many different houses and vignettes of various well-known nursery rhymes and fairy tales. Every now and then there is an actor or actress playing the role of someone from these stories. These were hit and miss. Mother Goose was great, but some of them seemed rather bored and disinterested. This could be because we were two adults - maybe if there had been children around they would have perked up a bit. This is a very cute area and I loved the concept. Many of the areas could use some fresh paint and some repairs as it looks like this area was once even more beautiful. The rest of the park has a very nice setting with plenty of shade and trees as it is literally in the forest. The Rollo Coaster is a great classic coaster with some very surprising airtime and feels faster than it is, especially before the turn-around. It was threatening to sprinkle rain, which apparently meant that the wild mouse coaster could not run. There was an employee seated on a bench in front of the entrance telling everyone it was down due to weather, but I'm not sure why being overcast counts as "weather" such that the coaster can't operate. Many booths and stores had not even opened by the time we left (around lunchtime). It was a very slow day in the park, so I can understand not wanting to keep a full staff, but it would have been nice to be able to look around and shop. The park is rather small with a nice collection of carnival rides, but there are not enough attractions here to merit the standard ticket price. They are priced almost the same as their sister park Kennywood, while Kennywood is a much larger park with a lot more rides and attractions to offer to merit the pricing.I am glad that I made the stop to see Idlewild, but I would not return without some decent improvements, newer attractions, and/or a better price point. If someone were going to take an entire family, it would get very expensive very fast and the value would not be there.
I visited this park as a kid mad I have great memories. We took my granddaughter and a a great great day. Yes you have to stand in line but that's a given at any park. I love story book forest. They have added many attractions but have maintained the original ones. My granddaughter rode the same rides I did when I was her age!! It's a perfect location and has a lot of shade so you can sit and relax. I highly recommend this wonderland. You won't be disappointed .
This park is great if you have young children. The swimming pool area is also very nice. Have fun!!!
When i was little this was such a big place... now that i have a 2 year old nephew it makes for an even better experience... just to watch his little face light up and smile when he sees something for the first time... Makes me smile more and this park makes that happen ..
My children have grown out of this beautiful park but we still visit with them and they still enjoyed being there even though they're a bit old for the park because of the beauty.
