I have attended a number of performances at the Academy Theatre and have found them to be entertaining and professional. It is a lovely old theatre
John is incredible. This is about the 10th time I've seen him. The seats at the Academy Theatre are the 'original' seats and are narrow. Not so comfy for shifting around. But the show was fantastic!!
I love the academy theatre. The sound system is amazing. The staff are genuine and helpful. Nancy is one of the volunteers. She is always smiling and very knowledgeable about the theater. I have been to see many productions and will be to see any more. Great entertainment in the heart of lindsay
It is a local theatre that seats about 5 to 600 people and get in top performers tp entertain all. The theatre is small enough that a international music group turned off their mics and sang without them and everyone in the place could hear them clear as a bell. That was amazing.
Rudy & the Angels are no longer affiliated with Pete Paquette Elvis the moments show.Nor will the Angels be apart of the June 05/15 date. At the Acadamy Theatre.Thank's
Recently I've attended two shows at The Academy, Lindsay's magnificent but slightly shabby grand theatre. During intermissions of Beauty and The Beast and The Barra McNeills, I had a chance to admire the faded elegance of this old theatre that was opened in January 1893, almost 122 years ago. I imagined the large dome that is hidden, temporarily, one hopes, from view, and longed for the original colours, soft salmon and beige. The acoustics remain very good, and, once the hard working Theatre Foundation raises enough money, and once the local council, as well as the provincial and federal governments, chip in, this place will be, once again, the gem it was on that long ago opening in January 1893. If John McDermott is a reliable guide, performers love the place. It certainly does attract a goodly number of stars, including Rick Mercer and the jazz diva, Carol McCartney. The place was full for the two performances I attended. We need this place. Let's all contribute in one way or another.
This is an old theatre that is interesting but not comfortable at all. The seating was so poor that it wrecked our evening. It is hard to enjoy any performance when you are in pain. Until they spend a little money on upgrades I will not return.
It was a very small venue and everyone had a good seat to see the band. I was surprised at how small it was. It was about the size of a school gymnasium but with seats on a slant so everyone can see from floor seats, which is all that is available.
What a great venue , not a bad seat in the place . Sound is perfect . Its antique charm is very pleasant. Really good acts play there. Worth watching for the shows coming. This was our 5th time going . We stopped this last time at Konstantine's restaurant and made an entire dinner and show evening. My wife was very happy.
Wonderful old theatre with great charm. Loved the Ed Sullivan Show....performers were EXCELLENT! And the music ROCKED the house! Am planning to see another show on October at this venue.....and I come from Toronto.
