I love this place; it is one of my favourite haunts on the island. The taverna always makes me think of pirate ships and desert islands.... I almost expect the owner Spiros to emerge with a parrot on his shoulder! The food is wonderful too.... especially the barbecued fish. I do not agree with the person who said they did not like the beach: I actually love it! It is sandy (although the seaweed can be a problem on a windy day!) and is one of the best places to swim, as it is often calm here even when you can see big rollers out at sea. There are no sunbeds here, but if you are lucky you can bag one of the shelters which Spiros has built here and which are free for users of the taverna. This really is a little bit of paradise, well away from the usual tourist circuit. If you are driving to Vatsa for the first time though, you might possibly have a bit of difficulty finding your way here....... although it willl be well worth the effort if you do make the effort! :-)
The Manager Spiros took great care of us. We had a beautiful meal of fresh fried fish and Greek Beer. The atmosphere at the restaurant was relaxed and Spiros made us feel very welcome. We look forward to returning on our next visit next year,
Vatsa Bay is beautiful. A small bay tucked away in what feels like the Carribean. The beach side tavern is in the perfect setting. Very rustic, peaceful and tranquil. Situated on the beach, feet away from the sea, it's the perfect place to enjoy excellent food and drink. Spiros is just lovely. Very relaxed and laid back, offering a personal, friendly service and generous portions, including fresh fish grilled on the BBQ. It's the perfect way to spend a few hours and worth venturing across Argostoli Bay on the ferry, then a short drive to Vatsa Bay. Highly recommended and good value.
You have to try a visit at Vatsa to convince yourselves that this place is heaven of tranquility on earth...quite,sandy beach, calm waters and amazing view.Don't miss the amazing taverna of Spyros on the beach! Definitely a must!
What a very lovely part of the island. Very quiet but beautiful beaches, some of which you needed a car to get to. We found a great restaurant captain nicholas, fantastic food.
On a week's holiday in Kefalonia we were told to come here-best advice ever!Tremendous bay and beach with the plus of one of best Tavernas we have ever been too.Whilest most of our group swam before eating ,a couples of us just sat relaxing ,sipping 'Fix' beers at a steady rate ,followed by some of the best sea food have ever had.Great relaxed service from all the staff ,plus chatting to 'guvnr' was intersting and humerous.Great day-great bay-great beer and great food.Don't miss this place!
Very laid-back beach, good value and great food in the beach restaurant. Clean beach with plenty of space. Alongside a creek where you can fish and has small chain ferry where you pull yourself across. Will be back there soon.
This beach and bay is favoured by the locals so what better recommendation. The beach is nice and sandy though you may need to move some dried leaves to get to it! The sea itself is great for a swim, not too steep for less confident swimmers.I have reviewed the fantastic taverna elsewhere......great place to spend the day or a lifetime!
What a fantastic location virtually had the beech to ourselves if you can't chill out here you will never chill out anywhere Stopped at le cite in lixouri taxi cost us €30 return in a taxi well worth the money we spent the day there from 10 am until 4pm must have seen 4 people all day until we went in the beach shack which was very busy the sea food platter was outstanding and very good home brewed wine A must. Is it attraction
Very scenic location, the beach is sandy and you can have a meal in the nearby taverna. Even though we did not get there easily (it seems that there are several ways to get there by car and we chose the most difficult...), we totally enjoyed the place and the food.
